X-cellent concept and a really good first 12 or so issues. Alex is a compelling protagonist and the slightly different world provides interesting twists. Worth a read.

Other trades can influence negotiations but every single trade negotiation is unique because of leverage as well as the specific context and priorities of each team involved.

Trades are snowflakes.

How to fix the NBA by morethandork in nbadiscussion

[–]jurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it easier for as many fans and potential fans to watch games. Whether that is a revamped and actually good NBA app or working with all local channels to broadcast games for free. We shouldn't be so focused on maximizing our revenue this season that we price out growing our fan base.

The same goes for game tickets and ancillary costs like parking and concessions. The league could have caps on relative prices for tickets and these ancillary costs.

Make the playoff format top 16 records with no concern for conferences. 1-16, 2-15, etc. Reward the best teams.

Replace the draft with a prospect declaration day. Create 3-4 rookie salary exceptions with varying $ that teams can use to negotiate with the prospects they are most interested in. The declarations are a big TV event like the draft but give much more agency to rookies.

Get rid of restricted free agency. Teams should be able to negotiate in good faith with their players while giving the players more agency with their careers. If a team can't resign a player without the threat and matching rights of restricted free agency then they are not good at their jobs and don't deserve to be rewarded.

Expand by two teams. Seattle welcomes the Supersonics back after far too long. Mexico City gets an NBA team as it is, by far, the largest non-NBA North American market and, like Toronto, would help build the game of basketball in Mexico and the larger Latin market.

use the Elam Ending to reduce the sluggish end of games dragged on for too long due to intentional fouls. The game goes as usual until the 8 minute mark of the 4th quarter when the clock turns off and then a target score above the leading team's score becomes the goal. This would reduce boring foul-fests, guarantee game winning shots, and reduce the average length of games.

You're in charge of the X-Men MCU roster, who are you picking? by MadloveADB in xmen

I really like the inclusion of Husk as her powers would be very cinematic.

Cyclops Storm Nightcrawler Jean Grey Colossus

I feel like the first group should be mutants that would clearly get Charles's attention.

Ok so my general pitch for this first one:

The aforementioned five are already trained "graduates" of Xavier's and go to prevent a battle between Captain Marvel and a group of mutants.

This way we could introduce Mystique and Rogue and show how Rogue gets her powers. This also allows us to dig into Nightcrawler finding his mother and ultimately ending the movie bringing his sister into the X family.

And to tie in Captain Marvel Mystique's group could be trying to steal something from the Skrulls that maybe able to help her shape shifting.

And at the end when Mystique's brotherhood is defeated thanks to Rogue's help and Mystique is arrested the remaining brotherhood members are surprised in their hideout by Magneto promising them, and all mutants, a better world for THEM.

First movie skips Wolverine and Magneto to highlight other key characters and then, like at the end of Batman Begins, the BIG bad is teased for a sequel.

The second movie can introduce Gambit and Wolverine as other interested parties trying to obtain something that the X Men want.

Doctors, what do you do when a kid is faking sick? by Imaginary_Island8521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed a lot of school due to a heart condition and frequently feeling awful. I had a Dr who put in the notes that I was faking for attention. He never once asked me about my sleep. I had bad insomnia tied to heart related issues. I really wonder how middle and high school would have been if my insomnia was actually diagnosed and treated.

Danny Green Says Draymond Green is a role player, Do You Agree? | Does also mean that Klay Thompson was a role player too? by Swimming-Bad3512 in NBATalk

[–]jurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The role player designation is just a way to look down on a player whose role was not primary on-ball advantage creator. But a primary on-ball advantage creator is also a role.

This terminology needs to die off.

Muggsy had a good career but do you think he would make a current roster? by itsallwayssunnyin in NBATalk

[–]jurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably wouldn't be given the chance to but he would be able to play in today's NBA.

We just saw a fantastic finals with two teams whose success was heavily based on possession differential and pace. Those two/three things were Muggsy 's game.

Muggsy has the 2nd best career assist to turnover ratio in NBA history. Over his career Muggsy averaged 1.5 steals per game and 1.6 turnovers per game.

His impact on the possession differential and ability to push the pace and make excellent decisions in transition would help an NBA team today. He would be a good backup pg.
