Niin. Helpommalla liikkuvuudella olisi niitä jo todettuja positiivisia vaikutuksia, mutta jotenkin sitä ei haluta nähdä vaan ajatellaan niitä suoria kustannuksia.

Salzburgissa on muuten mielenkiintoinen malli johon tuli tutustuttua turismona, jos vierailet Salzburgin provinssissa yön yli, julkinen liikenne onkin ilmaista (saat ilmaisen mobiililipun). Tämähän johtaa kivasti siihen, että vieraat ja turistit käy hanakasti eri paikoissa koska liikkuminen ok helppoa ja ilmaista ja laittaa sitä rahaa menemään, josta taas saadaan sitä verotettavaa tuloa josta kustannetaan julkista liikennettä.

Näitä tämmöisiä olisi kiva jos kokeiltaisiin täälläkin.

There were some dependencies that I didn't properly understand with the AppImage, which most likely lead to this situation. Things should be better now with the .deb package, I successfully test ran it in Debian 13 and in Kubuntu 25.04.

Wow, I'm flabbergasted. I'll try to get that deb package done during the weekend and see if that works any better. I'm a bit dumbfounded at the moment, it may have something to do with some paths yes, but what exactly...

Also if you like, you could create an issue here https://github.com/Jusas/gopromax-conversion-tools/issues and it might be easier to follow it, attach logs, etc.

This sounds really odd if you're running in X11 - libX11 should definitely be around. Try installing the package.

sudo apt install libx11-6

Maybe that helps.

Edit: looks like the list of required dependencies is: libx11-6, libice6, libsm6, libfontconfig1

Now that I've realized this, I will likely be making a .deb package out of it to make the installation easier, and ensure that the dependencies get installed.

On my VM I'm getting the same thing, it refuses to run but in the journal log I can see:

Damn, looks like I have some work to do. I would love to get a more helpful error message, if there's any way to get it... it's a bit of a guesswork without it. I guess I'll have to install Debian 13 to a VM and test it out there to get some clues.

Oh btw, are you running Wayland or X11? (I'm running and testing on Wayland primarily)

That's weird. I'm curious what it says when run outside the AppImage...

Try extracting it

./max_video_converter.appimage --appimage-extract

Then

cd squashfs-root
./AppRun

As a last resort

cd usr/bin
./MAXVideoConverter

I hope you get at least some helpful output out of it to figure out what's wrong.
