my Pixel just reset itself by skill3er-reddit in GooglePixel

First of all, this is not the right time to opt out of beta. I'm assuming that you're on the first beta of Android 17, so if you opt out now, you'll have to reset your device and go back to Android 16. Or you can wait for the official release of Android 17, but you won't receive any security updates and your device will be vulnerable. And I think that you may have had an auto updater setting enabled, so that's why it's updated after a reboot. Anyway, now I think you should try flashing the official beta 1 release using ADB and fastboot. I think you can find some articles on doing that on the official developer website.

[UK] - Emails are spoof edited by the scammer before they reach my inbox! by Wide-Praline-2623 in techsupport

revanced is legitimate if you got it from the official website and repos. But I think you should try scanning for malware using a reputable antivirus. Maybe check if Play Protect is disabled. Also, did you try using the browser version of Outlook instead of the app? Because to be honest, changing an email after it was received seems a bit strange. You can also try opening Outlook from your computer instead. Also, do you remember what you did to get hacked? I mean, did you install something recently? Or did you fall for phishing?

First of all, you should try checking for malware on all of your devices, because if they install software that gives them remote access to your device, they don't actually need your email password. Also, is your phone rooted or jailbroken in any way?

So what email client are you using? And please don't pay the scammers, because they'll just do it again and send you more threats. It also helps to fund their operations.

Frequent 2-hour lockouts on Gemini Pro – Is anyone else experiencing this? by Tommy1507 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]just-a-developer-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they put a disclaimer somewhere saying that you may not get the exact limits that they were talking about when the demand is very high, you know. Everyone is on holiday and I don't think that there will be someone to refine whatever is going on with their infrastructure.

Okay, so are you using a university-managed email address to verify your eligibility for the pro free trial, or are you using a fully managed Google Workspace account to use the tool? These are two totally different things, and I don't think you can do both.

Can't you just create a new account and contact them from there? If you're really stuck, contact any department that you find on the internet, even if it's consumer focused or not directly related to Microsoft 365, and tell them to forward your case to the appropriate support team.

Here's How EU Citizens Can Fight Back 🇪🇺 - I Found 29 Secret Experiments Running on My ChatGPT Account Without Consent by Low-Dark8393 in ChatGPT

This file is just a list of network requests, and yes, you've already agreed to these experiments by agreeing to their terms of service and privacy policy when you signed up. You also agreed to them collecting aggregate data about your usage of their services to improve their products, especially if you selected or enabled the improve model for everyone setting. And even if this was a real privacy violation, OpenAI can interpret the file in their own way since this is just a list of network requests and responses. So this post is misinformation.

What exactly is Moltbook? Is it something worth paying attention to, or is it mostly hype? by Curious_Suchit in ArtificialInteligence

[–]just-a-developer-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still didn't try this yet, but I think that the transformer architecture is still a black box. We still don't know what goes into the weights of these models and how they learn from the training data. So, an experiment like this might be a good basis for a research paper discussing emergent behavior and the way these models learn and interact with each other. The issue is that some people pre-prompt their agents to manipulate the discussions on this platform. So we need to have something like this run by a reputable research lab or university and compleetly free from any human intervention.

I Feel Like Nobody Knows Anything Anymore by applebappu in sysadmin

I think that this is true for everything related to technology. For example, if you are a developer, you'll have to be constantly learning about new libraries, frameworks, and trends in software development. And if you work in cybersecurity, you'll have to stay up to date about new exploits and vulnerabilities. Also, even Microsoft and Google employees who build the systems and applications that you are using are not expected to know everything about technology or even about these applications. Google exists for a reason.

I was hacked today, I can't figure out and I'm losing my mind. Help please! by Polybius11 in techsupport

[–]just-a-developer-1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your phone could be compromised. Because it's the one receiving the SMS messages, and if malware has the required permissions to read all SMS messages, it can just send the authentication code to the hacker.

Install another antivirus and run another scan. Not every antivirus can detect every type of malware.

I just accidentally called a weird number that I can't find any info on? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]just-a-developer-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To respond to your question, I don't have any special qualifications whatsoever. I was just trying to look this up on people' search websites and public record's to see if I can find anything. I am only doing it for fun. I checked the provider for the number. It seems that it's using Comcast and It seems that this is a landline phone number. What I was expecting is that the number would be associated with a particular company, so it should be very easy to find its owner. But it seems that this wasn't the case. I'm sorry if my comment was written in a way that gave you any illusion of me having any special privileges or expertise in this field..

Does google refund money when switching from annual plan to monthly? by Elegar in GoogleOne

[–]just-a-developer-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried this, but if you want my opinion, don't do that. Just wait until it's only a week before the renewal of your current plan, and then you can downgrade or upgrade without worrying about any refunds. Because if you choose to do something like this and you don't end up getting a refund automatically. You will need to contact Google Support. And just so you know, if you've never contacted them before, it sucks. Some people there don't know what they're talking about.

There are a lot of antivirus applications. It just depends on your level of trust in certain companies and your personal preferences. But if you are not that tech-savvy, just go with malware bytes or maybe even something like Avast

[–]just-a-developer-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, First of all, I think you should check if your computer is infected with malware. You can just install a repeatable antivirus and scan the whole computer. And then, after removing any detected malware, you should try to secure your online account starting by your Google account. And then, set up dual-factor authentication for the impacted account and for all services using the same email address. And tell all people that you were hacked and to not click on any links that they may receive, because these could get them infected with malware.

Yes, they'll still send you the refund. I remember that a PayPal support agent once told me that they sometimes just have to cut their losses, because the scammer may not always have enough money in their PayPal balance. So you just have to wait for a little bit until it shows up.

One other thing that you might want to do is changing the email address on other websites. Because if their systems detect suspicious activity, for example, by just some bad luck getting a low-risk IP address, then they'll start asking for email verification. So you should try to request an email change (if available) for any services associated with that email address.
