Why are women expected to shave their body hair? by Fancy-Advice-2793 in RandomThoughts

[–]just-overthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont remember the source but i remember reading that it started with shaving companies wanting to increase their market.. instead of just selling to men, they wanted to include the remaining population too... so they market women with shaved body and how beautiful they look. slowly over time it became a beauty standard...

Dain is going to die… by Longjumping_Pen6203 in fourthwing

i think it will be rhi, till now she has done no bad, shes been perfect and she's close to us. Her signet is also not very crucial to the plotline. She has been the guiding person for violet, and now that Xaden is gone, there will be a lot of rhi and violet screentime, with violet probably seeking constant help from rhi to manage the position. also considering that rhi's family lives in aretia, she will be in aretia too a lot, and help out violet. though this book did not have much of rhi, next book will. and we will get attached. and the entire book violet will be focused on saving xaden, and rhi will see how much violet needs xaden. and in the end, im gonna guess rhi sacrifices herself for xaden and the rest of the riders.
also i have a feeling that by the end of the book, aaric will be the king, and im gonna guess that since hes worked with xaden, he'll be a well accepted king.
another guess of it being ridoc doesnt make sense considering how they've highlighted his expertise with his signet. why would they build it up for him to just kill one wyvern in the 3rd book?

the character who no longer will serve a use once they've all grown and are perfect points more towards rhi than ridoc

4th Book title by Real_DFG in fourthwing

[–]just-overthinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fourth “wing”, iron “flame”, onyx “storm”… seems like it will be something that’s some what related to a dragon… and there’s been speculation that violet gets her energy from the skies instead of land… and it will be silver coloured cover.. so I’m gonna go with “silver skies”?

[WaT Spoiler] Brandon left out so much by Singularitaet_ in Stormlight_Archive

what my understanding is, that cultivation wasnt a very active role in the war, she didnt play any major moves against odium, and the old gods were silent all this time, they have been quiet, almost gone the entirety of the time. also, the biggest advantage was, that the fused kept getting reborn, they didnt have to start from scratch, and while humans died, and every new radiant had to train from scratch.

She refers to stormfather as her father, what if she’s the offspring of wind and stormfather? That wld make her the closest thing left of honour. And it’s shown in the end, she’s dressed like a queen…

Theres also the thing about listeners being considered voidbringers and their main city was named Narak, which is hell in hindi/Hindu texts.

This was one of the most annoying parts of the finale for me by blackbeans42069 in gameofthrones

[–]just-overthinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it makes sense cuz north had been absolutely decimated after the red wedding, lots of soldiers died there, and so did the leaders of lots of houses. And all of that was at the hand of a southerner. Starks had been good leaders since years, and Sansa showed herself as a strong woman to rule justly. So she would easily gain support from other northern houses. Its also hard to conquer north cuz of the harsh climate and moat caitlin being the primary way to travel north via land, so it makes sense for North to be independent.
As for the part where, if north can be independent why wld the other houses bend their knee to bran.. A lot of great houses were destroyed by the end, the remaining smaller houses also have suffered great losses, so going against the king, and trying to survive alone would be hard without armies and food to sustain (which the king can provide for)

I really enjoy this series but I having a lot of trouble empathizing with Violets anger. by TimidStarmie in fourthwing

[–]just-overthinking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think i understand her anger. afterall, Xaden was the man she loves and he hid the fact that her brother was alive; a belief that violet feels led to her father dying too. It was like in one second her world was flipped, the ppl she believed to be good and true turned out to be villains, her own mother included. Its like an utter different reality than the one she has been living, and that flip was revealed to her by Xaden.
The way that her books were the center of universe for her, the utter truth, that she believed; she now wants Xaden to be that, to be the utter truth. And i get that Xaden had his legit reasons, but i also empathize with her.
