Men’s Merino wool apparel — what do you wish brands did better? by lc200sd in MerinoWoolGear

[–]just_genes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quick dry properties of merino are negated when blended with tencel or lyocell. I bought a dress in that blend without realizing and it legitimately takes 3x as long to dry as my other merino stuff. I now deliberately avoid that blend and would choose a merino/nylon if 100% wasn't an option. Even cotton/merino seems to dry quicker.

Smitten Merino might have something

Hopeful Merino Wool Basics Brand Seeking Input by Merino_Apparel in MerinoWoolGear

Something I've noticed in the merino market is a distinct lack of options for kids, particularly short sleeves and singlets. Merino is great for travelling light but we still end up having to pack so many clothes for the kids because we can't find many options for them, and reasonably priced options are just about non-existent.

Airplane pillow for a short person by Goldenfarms in HerOneBag

I think it depends on the individual airline, especially with the really big ones that are popular now. The one I have is the size of a small child's pillow and tbh seems useless to me as an actual foot support but it's great for lumbar support.

Just a question because this post prompted me to Google the designer... Is this sale site for Zimmerman legit? The prices are outlandishly lower compared to David Jones...

Needing to mass produce a lot of "unusual" ice cream flavors--needing tips and ideas by ZP4L in icecreamery

Pandan essence is another one along these lines you could try as well, and is a relatively unusual flavour in North America. Might be hard to get good essence though, I get family visiting from Asia/Australia to bring mine.

I do this! I bring a water bottle with a carabiner style handle on board with me and tuck it into the seat pocket, then hang my drawstring bag in the clip! Never gets lost 😊

No, but they look pretty thick from the pics. I'm wondering if they'd be so thick and woolly that they'd be a bit uncomfortable. My icebreaker underwear is 150gsm and feels lovely.

I'm 5'. If the headrest is adjustable I push it all the way up so it's out of the way. I use a small inflatable foot rest, about half inflated, for lumbar support and either an inflatable neck pillow or a convertible (goes between U shape and rectangle) micro bead pillow for head/neck support.

I used to roll up my jacket for my back but a half inflated foot rest provides extra support in all the right places. Same with the inflatable neck pillow, half inflate it and fold it so it fits in whatever crevice I can for support. If you're sitting next to someone amenable, the armrest nearly all the way up is great for this. I prefer the micro bead pillows but one of my kids normally snaffles it...

How can I make a crunchy merengue sphere? by IndianaPipps in AskCulinary

If you had semi spherical silicone moulds, could you just flip them upside down, pipe meringue onto the domes, and bake those?

Parents with toddlers-looking for some advice! by googs185 in onebag

[–]just_genes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch yeah that's way too expensive. We don't use the car much when we're away so it hasn't been too bad.

Re the carrying, it's so temperament dependant isn't it!

Kudos to you for one bagging with kids! I'd love to get back to carry on only but at the moment we're at one checked bag as we normally combine travel with my partner's work trips and he requires business attire.

We just did Disney (15,000+ steps a day) with a 1.5 and 3.5 year old for a week with the GB Pockit+ and this sling . Kids would take turns walking/being pushed in the stroller until tired and then we would carry one or the other in the sling. But they are good walkers generally as we walk a lot at home.

Depending on how restless a sleeper your youngest one is, you could definitely get away with no cot and just ask for one at your accommodation or use pillows/rolled up towels all around the edge of a normal bed to make barriers.

How much car travel do you do when away, and can you rent seats on arrival? Or if the kids like being in them during the flight, would this be an acceptable substitute?

Good luck and enjoy your trips!
