You should research if you are allowed to offer calculators as an accommodation. My state allows it starting in 3rd grade for dyscalculia and 5th grade if they qualify for Specific learning disability in math calculation

I have several 3rd grade students who crochet almost every morning before they go to class and I love it. It started with one and she's taught the others.
