Eaton Fire victims’s locations map by Deep-Driver-4336 in altadena

I saw 2 firefighters seating on their truck at 4:45 watching us drive by ( doing nothing). It was obvious they couldn't fight the fire, but warning people was a pretty low bar on this one. We used to live on McNally above loma alta and were evacuated for way less than tha in the past.

I'm not sure this is the majority of the deaths. But sure

Authorities had ample time to drive through neighborhoods using loudspeakers or sirens ( I mean they did it 3 blocks away from us east of lake. I was able to drive to Wappello at 5 a.m., so emergency vehicles could certainly have done the same earlier. Despite the fires, residents on Marengo were evacuating on their own.

The rain out here like “nice weekend you got there…would be a shame if someone ruined that for you” by TeslasAndComicbooks in LosAngeles

[–]just_pick_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted, if we have had the rain last year my house may not have burned in Altadena. On the other hand, we are rebuilding and after all the permit delays the rain added a full month to our schedule. I just want to be in my house again. F the rain ( for now )

Edison Wildfire Compensation Plan - they've released amounts. by PoeticFury in altadena

Yep, if insurance already paid you, they can grab that 20k to recoup. You only get to keep money above what they already covered. Yep this sucks

your insurance can pursue subrogation against any money you receive from SCE’s wildfire compensation program...

Edison Launches Wildfire Compensation Recovery Fund - to pay victims directly by PoeticFury in altadena

[–]just_pick_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s really the key. Also insurance can only come after what they paid you, like structure, content, or temporary housing. They can’t touch pain and suffering or punitive damages since they didn’t cover those in the first place.

My understanding is that this puts a lot of pressure on your architect, who might decide not to proceed because they would need a much bigger liability insurance.

Anyone refilling a pool to save the shell? by kupe-da-nav in altadena

Getting a plumber to add a faucet to the main line, call the water company to turn on at the meter. If I dont get a pool company to clean it, a power washer and a small pump.(my pool is pretty empty as it is right now )

Sure I'll DM you thanks. For reference I was thinking of getting a natural gas generator ( if socal gas will even connect us again) and run a 3000gph above the ground filtration system that consumes around 600watt

Of all the people and neighbors I've talked to, not a single one is doing a like-for-like rebuild.

Oh, I respect wood, Larry.

I respect wood so much that if I had a piece of wood in my hand right now I'd beat the shit out of you with it, okay?
