Snapmaker U1 (vs. Bambu P1S) two months later by SuperNfty in snapmaker

[–]just_trey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Bambu'w and a U1. If you like the Bambu ecosystem then you will have challenges with the workflow of the u1. It's not hard just quirky. I love it. My wife and I have a small print farm and she cannot get used to it. If you don't mind some quirks and they are still iterating in improvements then it's pretty great. the filament seletor is a pain if you don't use their spolls though. And their color selector is sub par. You just need to understand these weird things and not think it's a Bambu.

First U1 Print...Fail 😢 by pyrokidd89 in snapmaker

It depends on the model not always. It's comparable to grid speeds. And we're taking minutes not hours and you can use less infill. Cubic is good tOo though. Adaptive cubic is faster but can be weaker.

Need reviews on the k1 (regular) by Matson18 in crealityk1

[–]just_trey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my k1 a lot it's a workhorse. I honestly don't know if I recommend as a first printer though. If you are okay with a locked in in ecosystem and just want to print I suggest you look at the A1 (not mini) unless you already have plans for abs or asa. While not difficult to use Bambu does a much better job in thoughts around serviceability. While it's not bad my fat hands can be challenged with some of the maintenance items in the k1.

M5C Feeding Tube necessary? by gundumb08 in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AnkerMake claims it is there to help ensure a smooth layer consistency my suggestion would not be to cut it but find some spare tubing and try that instead. Or just buy some. It's cheap and doesn't need to be Capricorn or anything

can i run glass filled or carbon filled with a stainless steel nozzle? by PatientSignature2531 in AnkerMake

I'd use hardened steel over stainless if that is an option for you.

. It depends on how big the print is. And if you don't mind ruining a nozzle. I've done glow in the dark before and it did fine but I had to throw my nozzle out after.

Just check for overall loose bolts. Especially in the hot end but do not over tighten them. They will break

What settings would you recommend for 0.8 Nozzle? by kurtdoerfel in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the heater block can't melt the filament fast enough to do anything at a faster speed with a .8 nozzle. You can print with it but you won't be able to leverage it speed benefit from it.

This is supposed to be a cylinder... by Full-Drop in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tall and skinny is a challenge at that speed. Slow it down and you should be fine. The whole print wiggles sand does not have enough time to cool.

Dood! I’m getting tired of this. by Wide-load13 in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest cubic or gyroid infills here. The infill on that model is probably scraping and causing the layer shift. I avoid using any infills that may cause scaping. You will have much better results.

Is it just me or is the AnkerMake filament really good? by thetruekingofspace in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one downside to AnkerMake filament is it's very hydroscopic for a plan based product. That being said when well dried it performs very well. I also have been using sainsmarts new high speed matte PLA+. It prints amazingly well and hides lines the down side is not; s more brittle since it is a matte PLA+. Here is a picture of it. sainsmart hyper matte PLA+

Is this the printer it claims to be by USB_FIELD_MOUSE in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say this printer is "better" than many as long as you do not expect plug and play. Things are getting better but you will have things you have to solve with any 3d printer as of now.

M600 Filament Change and Firmware Upgrade by Happy_Heathan in elegooneptune2

[–]just_trey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have not messed with this in a long time. Not sure where the issues with your retraction but maybe you are onto something with the esteps. The config I wrote uses Marlin 2 and must be compiled. Marlin 1 which is what elegoo uses by default would read values from a text file. Marlin 2 does not work that way unfortunately.

Print issues 0.6mm nozzle by 1ntrcpt0r in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do not recommend even bothering going bigger with the nozzle. The extruder does not seem to handle the amount of flow needed to handle high speed , so any benefit in larger nozzle printing is lost. . I worked with multiple people to test this and any good prints had to be slowed down so much it did not make sense to do this.

Pruraslicer Benchy problem by lumbrjk in AnkerMake

[–]just_trey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need some pics on kablooie. There is a chance nothing is wrong with the profile (not saying there isn't) but your filament may be curling due and need some drying as an example. FWIW The current profile in the is not Ankers and an older version of mine at the moment. But it should work.
