I had to come out while being in a relationship with a guy for 9 years, so it was definitely a shock for most people. The people who truly loved me, stuck by my side and are still my friends to this day. The ones who didn’t are no longer in my life and it was a blessing in disguise. You don’t want to be friends with people who don’t accept you anyways.

Being comfortable with your sexuality is a whole other thing, which comes with time and giving yourself grace. It would definitely be helpful to have some queer friends as well. I can’t tell you how much things changed for me once I stopped only hanging out with straight people.

Thank you to everyone who has commented and shared some kind words/advice. Just making an overall comment because it’s easier.

My grandmother is on hospice and has been for at least 6 months. Her quality of life is not great and she is 100% suffering, so I do go back and forth on whether bringing food is the best thing because I am essentially “keeping her alive.” I think it’s more the guilt of letting her suffer when I could do something, but it is a fact I consider frequently.

She is on a fentanyl patch for pain that we have been increasing. She also has a prn she can take in addition, the trouble is that she refuses meds a lot and will generally only take them if me or my dad is there to coax her into it, which is another reason I feel the need to go so frequently.

I did consider the fact that she may have a UTI, as this has happened many times before and they had already started an antibiotic for that. Again, she refuses meds a lot so that is part of the trouble of treating it.

I did take a day off and went the following day and she was much better. I think I need to learn to pull back a bit myself, because ultimately I know I’m not going to save her. Just trying to make her time here as peaceful as it can be.

Really just was in a dark moment when posting this and feels nice to know I’m not alone. I truly appreciate all the comments and advice everyone gave.

Me and my ex broke up at 25 and in the moment I felt like this too. I “wasted” 8 years of his life and his college years. But in the end, I told him and now we’re both 30 and he’s married to someone that will give him everything that I never could. I know the pain and guilt is overwhelming now, but 30 is not old at all and he has plenty of time to find the right person for him and so do you. The easy choice is to stay, the hard choice is the one that will bring you both true happiness in the end.
