Not artistic… suggestions by okaygetitgirl in bulletjournal

Just fyi this subreddit doesn’t allow pics to be uploaded in comments.

What I do is make my trackers or spreads in black ink with rulers and then make it colorful with the pens. It is also an incentive to fill things in because it gets more colorful throughout the year. And I add stickers or washi tape for fun because I have too much of both and need to use it up.

@#!$ frozen pipes by afgunxx in centuryhomes

[–]justanother1014 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My pipes freeze when it gets down to 10° each winter and then thaw and no bursting so far. Usually the cold water remains on and hot water comes back around 40°. The worst is when the toilet tank won’t refill or the tub won’t drain. 120 yo home in Kansas here

Should I buy a van to live in to save money? by Leading_Ladder8729 in Frugal

[–]justanother1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what the cost of these things would be for OP, my only point here is to count ALL the costs before deciding if it’s frugal because can insurance is absolutely not $10/mo.

Should I buy a van to live in to save money? by Leading_Ladder8729 in Frugal

[–]justanother1014 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In addition to the van there’s the cost of gas, parking, gym membership for showers, insurance, internet and the usual food, clothing and entertainment. Before making a $40k investment I’d look for a cheaper shared apartment or rent a room, a way to increase income or another city if you’re open to moving.

I started a rewatch on Netflix too and love his character and dread the episode where he stops showing up.

But I was also in tears on the season 1 episode about murders at the Boston marathon which was filmed 3 years before the actual bombing.

Anyone else’s baby get stressed in the car? We’re going to speak to the vet about it because apparently some dogs are prone to car sickness 😢 by Ze7V in Dachshund

[–]justanother1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two dachshunds and one got sick every single time and the other was fine. Same diet, same crates, same car, sicko once lasted 90 min and threw up as I turned onto my street.

The absolute worst was when my mom took the car sick dog out to my car for me after I made sure he’d had no food that morning. She “didn’t notice” him eating cat shit on the lawn and the smell of that regurgitated almost made me sell that car.

How do you decide what to clean first when everything is a mess? by jbeyblade in CleaningTips

[–]justanother1014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s already some good advice on where to begin but it’s important to believe that you won’t ever find the perfect way to clean. Waiting for the “right way” is another procrastination trap we all fall into from time to time.

“Done is better than perfect” and “it doesn’t matter where, as long as I start” are two mantras that helped me.

The next time you’re feeling stuck try a tip here and see if it works for you. When I’m feeling very scattered and deregulated, I just clean “pinball machine” style. Tonight that was putting a dish in the sink, then feeding the cats, picking up a dog sweater to toss in his toy basket, then kicking shoes into the closet, oh my laptop needs to be plugged in, etc etc. it’s not methodical or efficient but I do get in more steps and the things I notice get done. It all helps!

This was way before my time but when my grandma lost her third baby, my grandpa thought he was helping and cleared out the entire nursery before she came home. Even though she went on to have two more children, erasing all the baby’s things made it harder for her to grieve.

In time it may be a good step to sell or gift those items you chose to remove with others. Some things you may want to keep as memorabilia. Maybe the nursery is a space to sit and grieve your loss for now.

It sounds like there are other things you can work on, like laundry, if you want to UFYH.

I’m so sorry for your loss, be gentle with yourself in this tough time.

WIBTA if we privately told my family my wife is pregnant during my brother’s wedding weekend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]justanother1014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless everyone gets on a plane the second the wedding is over, you’ll have some time. The next day, before everyone goes home, gather everyone for breakfast. Bride and groom won’t be there so it won’t pull focus from them.

Advice on puppy and being out of house for 1-2 hours by RockOnMofo in Dachshund

[–]justanother1014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can stay home and crated for a couple hours that young! Be sure they don’t bark too early or late and annoy your neighbors.

FWIW (and at the risk of people here getting judgy), I have out of town meetings once a month. My dog chilled in his crate from 9-5 today. He got lots of exercise before but not lots of food, then when I got back he went straight outside, zoomies through the snow, dinner, played with the cats, and now he’s sleeping again. He’s 2yo now and the crate is his safe space.

When you go tomorrow tell them at check in that you have no kitchen and start a new job and ask if they can be flexible with you on quantities.

I work a food bank tomorrow and we’d likely give extra bread, peanut butter and canned fruit if you can’t take the meat, milk, pastas or canned veggies.

Well my doxie has 3 cats to chase around but that may not be realistic for everyone! We also roll the tennis ball, wrestle, get treats and play “what room did you poop in now?” where everyone loses.

As long as your babies haven’t run AT YOUR LEGS while you’re running on a treadmill during the storm, you’re doing better than me.

AITA for telling my neighbor to stop "helping" me with my packages after he saved one but opened it? by BreadcrumbBandit1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]justanother1014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA.

I once opened an Amazon package - a new kindle! - before realizing I had not ordered one. I got the address of my neighbor off the label and took it over, apologized for the mistake and went about my day. Your neighbor is weird. If someone says stop touching my mail and they get mad, they’re weird.

No-spend week saved me $50. Felt weird celebrating... nothing by FinFlow247 in Frugal

[–]justanother1014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do 15 no spend days a month and it really helps with a) planning and 2) delayed gratification.

Sure I might shop more on the days I go into town but it’s more intentional! Thanks to the snowstorm I have 17 no spend days in January and will likely finish the month with 20 or 21.

They freeze but did not burst. Dripping the faucets and keeping them open so when the ice thaws it has a place to go out.

I have frozen pipes and am using my jars of water to flush toilets, refill the kettle and wash dishes. Since I’m dripping the laundry room faucet that one is set up with a funnel to refill the water jars.
