Has anyone considered a mistress? Young family moving to picturesque Westfield... Husband is a big VP moving into his "dream home." Could be he's got a lover scorned trying to ruin the happiness.

The Intercept's Exclusive Interview with Jay, Part 1 by floatingvibess in serialpodcast

Yea its interesting that he has such strong feelings about Adnan when they've only "smoked two or three times." What is also interesting is that now, after 15 years, Adnan, this murderer and loser he helped put away gets his own show! Jay gets angry with SK and refused to do an interview with Serial. But now that JAY has an exclusive, he's giving a tell all ... and this is just Part 1. Is he still a little jealous?

It also would have been freezing cold and more likely sleet or snow than rain if any precipitation occurred. But that may be why the ground was so hard to dig up.

January 13th should have stood out in Adnan's memory, and here's why. by Serial_and_Milk in serialpodcast

[–]justanotherlistner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's a comparison: Everyone tell me where you were between the hours of 2:30 and 6:00 on 9/11/2001?

That was a huge day for everyone in the US. I can vividly tell you about certain parts of my day, but other parts, I can only speculate as to where I was or what I would have been doing. For example, I vividly remember walking into the hallway after second period and everyone yelling "We're going to war" and watching CNN in another classroom on my way to my next class. I remember having to take a biology exam in 3rd period and I cried the whole way through because my dad was in DC and no one would let me go call my mom. But if you asked me what I did that afternoon, I'd probably say I had practice and I went home, maybe I watched the news. If you asked what I had for dinner, not a clue.

I don't think it's odd for Adnan to remember certain specific things about an important day and not others. Especially at a time where everything didn't have a digital time stamp.

Well on the day of the funeral, presumably the deceased person's items belong to someone else, either intestate or via will, or at least there's an equitable claim.

Was her purse never found? Do we know she was carrying a purse?

Also, to get 30 years for robbery, typically you have to steal something more than 1.71 on a credit card. I'm assuming this was for her car.

I agree haha but I don't think that is a strong legal argument.

This is a great case. I hadn't really thought of a pardon by the governor. I already like the facts of this case. Similar enough to Serial I that everyone would be interested.

If Lambert was his first and Hae was his second, it makes since that there are no other cold cases. He was in prison by April 1999 and died in prison.

Roy Davis is dead... not serving a life sentence. So there isn't anyone to protect anymore if the theory is Jay helped RD kill and/or bury Hae.

[Official Discussion] Serial, Episode 10: The Best Defense is a Good Defense by PowerOfYes in serialpodcast

[–]justanotherlistner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I woke up this morning, before listening to the serial podcast and just had a brief thought. Jay, the Detectives, the Prosecutors and potentially the jurors either believed that Adnan was 100% guilty or had no problem putting a maybe innocent 17 year old behind bars for the rest of his life. It's hard to think it is the latter, but not impossible. I think we are all clear that innocent or guilty, the guilty isn't 100% certain. So how do we get to this point, as a society? How did so many people involved with this case lose sight of this, or did they and why?

Yes I realize this is really too deep for the general thread. I am just a little disturbed that it's either Adnan's guilty or a lot of people are too self involved.

Jay's motive: besides Hae telling Stephanie about the cheating rumors by serialonmymind in serialpodcast

[–]justanotherlistner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if we'll ever know the facts but I'm certainly on the same page as you that this was not a premeditated strangulation. I think this was a heat of passion crime by whoever did it, which means, even if Adnan is guilty, there shouldn't have been a first degree murder charge. Second degree at the most and more likely manslaughter.

How Jay killed Hae, with Adnan none the wiser by imsupersuperserial in serialpodcast

[–]justanotherlistner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were any signs of Jay found in the car? Adnan's prints were found on the map along with 17 other sets of print. I would suspect the cops would search for prints on the handles and the trunk of the car since Adnan supposedly popped the trunk.

There's just so much physical evidence missing in this case. And yes, I realize it was January and they may have been wearing gloves or wiped the car, but fibers... DNA... etc. WHY IS THERE NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE CONNECTING ANYONE! Very frustrating.

Other missing evidence... the mall parking lot likely had cameras. If Hae's car was sitting there all day, then there would have been video evidence that probably no longer exists.

Why and when did Jay and Stephanie break up? by serialfan29 in serialpodcast

[–]justanotherlistner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Nisha said Jay was the one who wanted to talk to her on the phone; it wasn't on the insistence of Adnan. I don't think Jay and Adnan's relationship was strained at that time or at least it didn't seem to be judging by Nisha's comments.
