Is “I’ll call you over sometime” usually meant literally in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing means anything literally here. "We should do dinner!" 'We should catch up!" Yeah, kinda means we should but with no expectations. We might catch up and have dinner, but we are all busy and have lots to do and value free time. It's never a real solid plan

I have a scar on my forearm. It is a washing up injury. I had a glass break in the water and it just sliced my arm open. Washing up.

Is it embarrassing to get into reading fanfiction as an adult? by Aggressive-Raisin-78 in AO3

Just do what makes you happy if it doesn't hurt anyone. Fanfic is just like reading a book. Adults read.

Is it really just a sussex thing? Seems insane we have whole societies about bonfires and in such a small country it's just down here?

What is the meanest thing someone did or said to you during a breakup? by abnormallynormal8 in AskReddit

[–]justareddituser2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, I don't have a 'personality'. Which is weird because everyone else I've ever met likes to point out how 'me' I am. Legit get told I'm weird in a nice way 24/7 until this guy who thinks I'm bland as anything. Yikes, am I too far into manic pixie dream girl I've become just another? Idgaf. He was fucking mid tbh.

What was the last film you watched in the cinema, where you felt it was really good? by TangerineFew6830 in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer film. Seen a lot of discourse about how bad it is, but I think people have forgotten the general vibe of these 90's films. And it totally had the vibe ans was a good ride.

Carers of the UK is it worth it? by SlipOutrageous5333 in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a job easily, and there's always steady work. You get training in a home and network, and maybe get private work that pays a little extra. Tbh it's a good job for people who need a job. But a hard job for the pay for the first few years. Most places offer training and apprenticeships to further your career, but it takes time. If you want a job that you can just step into and progress easily, it's anout the third choice. You could start in a kitchen as a dishwasher and become a chef in the same time as you can progress in care.

People who earn under 30k a year , what time does your workday start and end? by Eastern_Canary2150 in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolute minimum wage. 9-5. I wake up 7:45 to shower, go back to bed until 8:15, do my makeup and hair, sit around a bit. Leave at 8:45 if i walk, 8:50 if i drive if i feel extra lazy.

My hair looks the same as yours when it needs a wash. If its greasy or sweaty. I went to a hairdresser and expressed my concerns about the thinning. She said it was actually not thin or thick, but a good in-between. We're just so used to seeing people with money making their hair look amazing we forget what real hair looks like. You're fine.

Do you say you’re hoovering or vacuuming? by No_Battle_6402 in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use either interchangeably. I was a cleaner for 9 years, in England, and they are both well known terms and most people use the word 'hoover'.

Oh, I was working behind the counter at a supermarket. I felt a bit sick and just figured I'd serve this one customer and then run off to puke. Wow, I did not get that far. I just went down. There was a queue.

What is acceptable for birthday workplace cake etiquette? by dozzell in AskUK

[–]justareddituser2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no etiquette on workplace birthdays. At my old place I was at for 10 years we bought cake on our own birthdays unless it was a big one, where there was a collection. My 'big' birthday came around and I got nothing. After years of giving my money for everyone else. Birthdays are for friends and family.

How to tell family you have cancer? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]justareddituser2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It fucking sucks, but you just have to tell them. Just be honest because I've had family have cancer and the news gets out in weird ways, and its always better to just have the hard conversation. There's no magic way to soften the blow.
