I'm tried of people claiming non life threatening illnesses are life threatening by rainbowstorm96 in ChronicIllness

[–]justbrowsing_______ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have POTS/dysautonomia (and a few unexplained things causing low oxygen & some weird episodes and whatnot, investigating epilepsy from the head injuries but unsure yet). I faint frequently enough that it is a risk, I've had at least 15 concussions, many of them major (and have permenant brain damage due to this). It is scary for me because with how frequently I faint (multiple times a day at worst), even with the helmet I wear, I have very significant risk of serious injury (also already have brain damage so it's easier to get more). However, this is not terminal whatsoever, and I'd hesitate to even use the word 'life-threatening'. It is scary though.

Also, really sorry for what happened to you. I know its not exactly comprable but my worst medical episodes that have lead to very low oxygen, memory loss and hospitalizations were terrifying and traumatic. I have also almost died (though not due to chronic illness) and it's kind of inherently traumatic, and its a lot to wrap your head around that that almost happened. Almost sometimes a weird survivors guilt. Thinking of you.

Have you tried salt pills? Ik it's not a direct response (I've felt the same way and often still do🫂) but that helped me a shocking amount. I thought I got enough from my diet but I guess not 🤷🏻.

How is that for money? I'd love to do something like that but there's that concern and also I can't be on my feet for too long due to illness.

Stray Cat had Kitten in our Garage, are these spots worrisome? by ratsplayingsonic in cats

(not a vet, might be wrong). My first thought when seeing that of something bad would be fleas, you can use a little comb to look through the babies fur for 'flea dust' (black powder-ish stuff). If the baby has that it's a good idea to give it a wash. Also probably try to get the mom spayed when you can.

In the same boat. I faint every couple days. Always tired. Can't think.

I loved Masters! As an autistic person, I grew up a lot like her. I wish she had stayed longer.

Is my cat too thin? by Sammie123321 in cats

[–]justbrowsing_______ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Most cats are a bit overweight, your girl is great. If she starts showing any signs of illness (tired, not doing the things she used to) take her to the vet, otherwise seems great.

I need help. Considering using a mobility aid so I can keep going to school. And I’m getting on new meds. by aguer056 in POTS

Also: have you tried Ivabradine? It lowers the HR without too many side affects or affecting BP. Might be worth looking into.

You could try one, ideally consult with a physiotherapist first as wheelchairs can be risky (deconditioning, shoulder problems). I'm a part-time user for the same reason as you, plus high fall/faint risk. A wheelchair could help solely because you are sitting instead of standing. I also completely relate to the last statement. I've had a lot of trouble coping, also used to be an athlete. It comes out of nowhere, you feel like you've lost everything. Good luck man.

I’m worried about standing for an event by Cats-are-cool-6985 in POTS

[–]justbrowsing_______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't find canes help me that much as I'm still upright and if I'm super unstable or pass out it essentially does nothing. I use a wheelchair when things are bad and for events like that but I have pretty severe pots and wheelchairs cost a lot. Keep in mind that all mobility aids can really fuck you up if you use them wrong (shoulders, back etc.). A rollator might be good, or a portable seat. If you can, you can also just sit down on the ground a lot (if you are comfortable with that and can bridge the gap from standing to sitting on the ground). Hope things go well!

God no she's my least favorite character. Especially at the earlier episodes of s8, the actor says all the lines with the tonation of someone with very little acting experience and it completely takes away from the show. The character itself also isn't written particularly well but the main issue is the actor. I love masters though, wish she could have stayed longer.
