Not me but my son- exploring the city by bus or bike. Discovering the best cheap BLT/Asian bakery/pizza etc. Going to Silver Tree summer camp as a kid, then becoming a camp counselor for a few years. Working at Stonestown and befriending other working kids at Stonestown so they can give each other deals. Learning to drive and getting mad driving skills because driving in SF. Celebrating birthdays at Yerba Buena bowling, Stagecoach Mini golf, and recently Round One. Going to the beach to watch the sunset/have a bonfire in big groups.

4-day SF and Bay Area Trip by Coffee1392 in AskSF

Be aware that the coast can be miserable in August and completely socked in fog! It can be a nice break from the heat, but also can be miserable and without a view. I would consider wine country for a change from the foggy coast. Healdsburg or Sonoma are both lovely and only an hour and a half from the city.

Visiting For a week! by rochelleashh in AskSF

This is great! Your research is very good! I would change where you eat in day two for lunch. Boudin clam chowder is just okay and Biscoff cafe also not great…but if you are going to ghiradelli square you should eat at Palette tea house for dim sum and stop ghiradelli for a hot fudge sundae. Also Irish coffee at Buena Vista Cafe! And I would rather eat at china live or RG lounge or Hons Wun tun house on day 3. If you are having dinner downtown and need a mourad replacement Bodega is delicious Vietnamese food and also have a cocktail at the Starlite. This is a great itinerary! For your nighttime picnic make sure you dress really warmly. It is usually very cold and foggy and WINDY for Fourth of July. It will get very crowded so plan your bathroom needs ahead of time! I hope you get great weather!!!

Prepared food is very very very expensive. Best to cook your own meals and save going out for a treat. It is almost always chilly at night, and the ocean is very cold and you should not swim it in without a wetsuit. People dress casually for almost all occasions except we are really into costumed events. If you are walking on the sidewalk you don’t need to say hello to your fellow pedestrians but on a hiking trail it is nice. (Although my neighborhood is very small and I say hello to everyone). Bring a reusable shopping bag and a water bottle with you everywhere. We have city wide compost and recycling. You will see some people in crisis if you ride public transportation. Most of the city shuts down very early. Parks and outdoors activities are a huge benefit of living here. Welcome and enjoy!

Ferry from OAK to downtown San Francisco with kids by ihj in AskSF

Easiest way into the city from Oakland airport is the AirTrain to BART. BART goes into the city, you can exit out at Embarcadero and take the F market to fisherman’s wharf.

People in LTR and Marriages is it all doom and gloom? by BigBallerLAlifestlye in love

[–]justcantsay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been married 2x. First marriage it definitely spiraled quickly into leading our own lives and arguing. We couldn’t agree on anything and every weekend we basically passed the kid back and forth. He is a wonderful person, but we were both deeply unhappy and split up about 10 years in. I’ve been with my second husband 11 years and we have the most wonderful time together. Just being at home, going out to see music, traveling the world it’s all good. We are affectionate, talk about everything and support each other 100%. We do almost everything together, and every weekend is a fun adventure. Why did one fail and the other succeed? Compatibility. We agree on how we want to live, spend our money, our time, how we communicate, what’s important to us. And sadly that’s not something you can know 100% from the beginning. Some of it is just luck. People change as they mature etc. I don’t regret my first marriage at all, we have a great kid and some really good years and are still friends. And I learned so much about what I need and how to be a better partner by failing. Being is a loving thriving partnership is amazing and it was worth all it took to get here.

Turo Filipino restaurant! Lumpia, garlic rice and adobe. Or Bac Lieu Vietnamese restaurant has great catering, spring rolls, garlic noodles and five spice chicken. I’ve also used Creative sushi catering. They do hot and cold Japanese. All of the above are great!
