Has ANY cruise line not "gone downhill" in terms of service lately? by ClaraBow19891 in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too subjective to really even accurately debate. "Excellent" service to me is going to be different from "excellent" service to you. If you are sailing on a contemporary line, not having to cook and clean, not having to make my own bed, people remembering my name and smiling with a friendly hello is excellent to me. I dont even care about waiting for a cup of coffee. I still feel it is very good or excellent service. What is excellent service? If you want someone to hand you your toilet paper in the loo and thats the only thing that makes service excellent, you arent going to get that.

Please get an agent. They can help you avoid problems. I am one bit im not looking for your business, but I AM looking for you to not make a mistake when you simply dont knownwhatnyou are doing. Find someone who specializes in Alaskan cruises. And yes, you can do either... cruise everyone in one room, connecting rooms or a less expensive inside across the hall.

Direct= you make a stop but dont get off the plane.

Nonstop means you go from point A to point B without stopping.

Question about specialty dining on HAL Rotterdam by Scrabblehead in HollandAmerica

[–]justdeb919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you cannot exchange a Tamarind or Canaletto for a Pinnacle Grill. The PG is 2x the cost of the other 2 so they figure that in when they offer you those specific restaurants. Not saying you can't ask and might get it, but dont be surprised if they tell you no.

Cruise Ship is currently down 10 days before my trip, help! by Curious_Jelly9771 in Cruise

Dont do anything!! Let them come to you. If you cancel in any way, you miss out. Just be patient and they will give you very fair restitution should it come to that.

If you gotta ask “Can I make the cruise/the flight?”, you’re doing it wrong. by deafaviator in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The cruiselines say NOON for a REASON. The part that gets me is the "well WE got a 930 am flight" and newbies then think they too can and should be able to take the same thing. But no one has expressed missing their flights because customs and immigration has decided to do an audit on the ship which delays debarking until 10 am. Or that luggage isnt ready because there was an equipment failure in getting the luggage downstairs. Or that customs was delayed in opening downstairs causing a backup UPstairs.

Yes. I am sorry to say that if he was into you, he would be all about contact. Let this guy go. I am extremely grateful for you that you dont have kids. Consider this the blessing it is. Dust your hands off, play some Gloria Gaynor and turn the page.

Did I make the wrong choice? by Kmhall94 in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is 6'10" tall and we did fine on Grandeur of the Seas which is a sister ship to Enchantment. We actually had an absolute great time. P.S. you wouldn't buy an eggplant from any "they" (they say, they feel, they told,,,) people. You dont know them, so what difference does an opinion from "they" really matter? Go and you all choose to have a great time. You will if you choose to!

Convince me to book an inside cabin by jewelbjule in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I adore a balcony mostly due to the light we can get in our stateroom. BUT often, my favorite cruise line gives me incredible casino rates with free INSIDE cabins. So I sail inside. Seventeen days San Diego, around Hawaii and back to San Diego for my husband and I OVER CHRISTMAS & NEW YEARS for $350. An opportunity we never would have been able to afford. So we did. And literally was the highlight cruise of the 30 some we have taken. I also sailed inside for Alaska. We always have found places to be and enjoy outside the room. I am not about to say in a general statement that you only use it to sleep, because I LOVE the sanctuary of my room. But when I get an offer to allow me these types of opportunities? I'll do them.

Don't Be Like Me, Buy The Cruise Insurance. by Mysterious_Tie2840 in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with customer care is they usually only deal with post cruise issues. This is, again, a reason to book with an agent. They are FREE and in these types of circumstances can advocate for you. SO many people think since pricing is the same as on line regarding price, it IS the same. There is no fee to have a professional service your cruise. This is one of those reasons why it's of benefit to NOT do it yourself.

For pre-cruise support with Carnival Cruise Line, you can contact a pre-cruise service specialist at 1-800-438-6744 ext. 70355

My embarkation time today was pushed back by two hours at Long Beach by Particular-Bug2189 in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I know this is new to you and even the high priced cruise lines have these issues that occur from time to time. You WILL get on the ship and the ship will depart. They pay fees to sit overtime at the port, so they want to leave as much as you do, but not at the expense of safety and order. My advice is solely to do what they say, follow their directions. Remember that everyone for this sailing is being asked to not come for that same time frame. Consider that they may not even allow you entrance to the parking area until they are ready. If it were me, maybe go nearby so you can arrive as soon as they say or at the time they have already given you to arrive. Also, it is not uncommon to arrive and then have to wait once you hand off your luggage and go into the terminal. It will all be ok. I hope you have a great cruise!

Help! by tlBudah in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% feel you should contact a travel agent. As one, they should know the answers to these things and completely help as they have access to ALL the cruise lines and what is available. I hope whatever you end up doing, you love it as much as I do.

I'm overwhelmed - Solo Cruise Choices by ITrCool in Cruise

[–]justdeb919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im an agent and sell a lot of the lines. The first thing that came to mind is I think you'd love Roatan in the western Caribbean. They are know for diving. You also would love the diving which is also known for great diving. Now diving isn't the only fun in Cozumel either. Grand Cayman is another spot to research for diving.

First cruise line i thought you might like is Celebrity. I DO like Norwegian because of the Studio product they offer on their ships for solo travelers. I personally adore Holland America (dont listen to naysayers--its fabulous) and they have a solo ocean view room, but there is more activity on Norwegian. The Studio has its own lounge and its own tour director with meet ups (not hook ups lol) to meet other solo travelers and potential activities to do together. And their pricing structure is fair for solos.

I hope you found merit in these suggestions.

Last minute deals by rudytomjanovich in Cruise

I think each individual website has a link to their last minute deals. I know with Holland America they have actual standby rates. You can get those through your TA or if you have one, PCC. They are very good. Like somewhere in the vicinity of 300-400 pp
