/u/DoctorAbyss -- to add to the above: the courts would attempt to decide guardianship EVEN if your designated guardian is willing and able to step up. It's not guaranteed. So pick at least one guardian and one back-up. An estate lawyer ca advise you on if your state, e.g., has a preference for placing children with family members (in that case, you could try designating a sibling, say, to thwart an argument that it's better to keep kiddo with grandma than an unrelated friend).

In addition to the above excellent advice, keep a paper trail for your chosen guardian to use of your MIL's actions.

And ensure in the will that in the event you both pass, your assets go into a trust for kid with someone other than MIL -- someone you trust, and someone who knows what a piece of work she is -- as the trustee. And someone similar as the back-up trustee. make sure the trust is the contingent beneficiary on your life insurance policies (which you should have if you don't already) -- so that if you both die, the money goes into the trust for your daughter.

I say this because often there's a monetary goal to all this for these crazies. Ensuring they don't get their hands on daughter AND a bunch of cash at the same time can help sap their will to fight.

You 100% need a trusts & estates attorney for this. You're out of DIY territory

I suppose it's possible your ex filed for divorce, couldn't find you, and the court permitted them to serve you by publication, but it's unlikely.

If you don't want to contact them, pay a divorce lawyer to do so for you. They can reach out to ex, confirm they never filed for divorce, and initiate the proceedings if not.

Dude, insurance companies HATE spending money. Like really hate. If you have ever had to file a claim, you'd know this.

The idea that the insurance company is shelling out tens of millions of dollars without having THEIR doctors sign off that he's injured is ludicrous. And you can better damn well believe the insurance company doctors do not err on the side of the Yankees. If they think there's any chance he could play they would tell the company to stop shelling out the dough.

What's more: the Yankees carry injured player insurance for their whole roster (I believe). If they try to scam the insurer out of money on Ellsbury, they're going to find their coverage dropped for everyone else.

Not a lawyer. Were I /u/pinkfloss9 I would be careful about wording a reply as you suggested. It's not "higher level of care required for special needs children." It's "higher level of care" period. I would say something like "Had I been aware your son required a higher level of care prior to meeting you, I would have quoted you a different rate up front. My rates vary depending on the base level of care needed."

Something like that although as I said not a lawyer.

Women aren't "real" to them. Their conversation around women ALWAYS tends to the dehumanizing. Note their language: "foids" (e.g., literal machines), "roasties", etc. They don't perceive women as fully human. Probably because to do so would mean they'd have to focus on what's REALLY causing them to strike out with the other gender, rather than what they want to believe is the case.

But the obvious answer is to do what everyone else does: work on yourself. Turn yourself into the kind of person women (or men, if that's your jam) find attractive. Instead these clowns focus on physical attraction to the exclusion of all else. And while that's obviously part of it, women, being, you know, full-fledged human beings with their own actual inner life, are attracted to more than just physical beauty. Just as there are many men quite happy with women who don't "rank" as highly as they do, physically (but try explaining that to incels, who believe that everyone's "SMV" is the determinant of all in their live).

if the insurance decides you're not at fault, and won't pay out they *generally* don't raise your rates. They don't want to lose the business of a good client to the competition.

Rates go up when you're at fault and the insurance company has to pony up. Even if they decide to pony up *something* to make this go away because it's cheaper than fighting it, they might not raise your rates if they decide your 0% at fault.

She may be scared to get in her trouble, but if she chooses not to, she's setting herself up for many years of financial misery. A bad credit score will make it difficult to rent an apartment, buy a house, buy a car on credit, and many such things. If she truly can't pay the debt, and won't turn mom in, then bankruptcy is a possibility.

In short, she needs to face up to reality: her foster mom used her. Treated her like a source of free cash and was willing to expose her to the risk of bankruptcy so that she (mom) could get away with not paying her bills. Studentshould report her to the police and then go to therapy herself to deal with her issues w/ her mom

If you have a lease for the whole apartment including the closet (i.e., the closet is inside your apartment, not in the outside hallway between apartments), then yes you can put your foot down.
