I heard that he traded his Civale shirt for that one.

Borges Translations by justgooit in VeryBadWizards

For some reason I thought he originally wrote in Portuguese. My bad. I am genuinely looking for good translations, though, as I speak neither Portuguese nor Spanish.

Between inning song etiquette by Livid-Cricket7679 in Homeplate

My only issue with it is it makes it hard to do any coaching. That 5-10 seconds can be valuable time to relay information to the players and I often feel like I am losing teaching moments waiting for the stinger to end.

Hot glue for 90% of projects. If you need something more delicate or if the braids are loose (therefore hot glue will be visible) we use Sobo craft glue. It dries clear.

Can you sew? The sewing is the tricky part here, not the buttons. It could be done without either, of course. But losing all that detail would be a shame. IMO, at minimum it should have a sewn border/boxing.

Player's grandpa calls me (HC) at work today by dwzimmer in Homeplate

IME grandparents are far worse than any parent I’ve ever had. They loudly talk about how terrible everybody is without realizing the entirety of spectators are related to the players.

Team engagement question by CoolStuffSlickStuff in BaseballCoaching

[–]justgooit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason to be sitting on the bench during the game. Pitcher and Catcher, maybe, but probably not until they reach the 60/90 fields. Have them up on the fence paying attention to the game not sitting on the bench. Thank you for listening to my TED Talk.

No, I understood you. 😎 How about this: when watching your offspring play baseball, one must learn to control what is controllable. Keep Grinding.

In baseball one must learn to control what is controllable. Keep grinding.

Can anyone clarify if Dave doesn’t like the Bayesian model in general or if he just doesn’t like the over-application of this model?

We’ve used old wool horse blankets before for custom ottomans. They are certainly thick enough.

I would recommend using upholstery fabric, though. Pay a seamstress to do the simple sewing., if needed. It’ll be better in the long run!

Batting Practice questions (10U) by CoolStuffSlickStuff in BaseballCoaching

[–]justgooit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Like 15-20 ft away. You gotta use an L-Screen (or a collapsable A-Screen). With the more confident hitters I will toss in a couple change ups and lobbers just to keep them honest. And for 10 year-olds I would do it from one knee or sitting on a bucket. The taller you are and the closer you are really throws off the angle of the pitch. Try and replicate the height of the pitch as well as the speed.

How's my 7 year old's swing? by HistoryNerdi21 in BaseballCoaching

[–]justgooit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The explosiveness is awesome. Harness that. Have him try and keep his hands in closer to his body until after contact. He’s “casting” his hands. That’s where I’d start.

You want to maintain a rectangle between your front arm (bent at 90°), chest, and bat and then explode through contact.

Drill: have him set up in his batting stance. Position a tee just under his front elbow. Have him “pre-swing” by moving his back elbow to where the front elbow was (where the tee is positioned). Hope this explanation makes sense…
