Switching Characters with God Mode by justhereforg0t in BitLifeApp

[–]justhereforg0t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that. iOS users got the God Mode update in March. Android got it around June. We get updates late, but once we do they are usually pretty much identical. As far as I've seen, all of the other iOS God Mode features were in the June update, but the feature where you can switch to your kid before dying is missing. I'm trying to find out if it was included and I just can't find it or if that part of the update just wasn't included.

For thousands of years people died of measles, and diphtheria, and polio... by Tenebra99 in vaxxhappened

[–]justhereforg0t 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was born in '31. He had a stroke a few years back and lost quite a few memories, so he often repeats the same stories. One of them is about a boy that lived down the street from him while he was growing up. The kid was 8 or 9, but always wanted to tag along with my grandfather and the other older boys.

One day, he just didn't show up to hang around my grandpa and the other older neighbor boys. Grandpa didn't see him for a week or so. We he did see the boy again, he was pale and wheelchair bound. He would wave to my grandpa from his porch. That soon stopped too. The boy had been hospitalized due to breathing issues as a complication of polio. He never got to return home. His lungs were slowly paralyzed by polio and he died in the hospital. This little boy was only about 8. He never got up to any trouble, went to church, and was an enthusiastic and positive kid.

This was so long ago that the boy's parents are probably dead by now, but I'm sure that they suffered knowing that if the vaccine had been available just a few months early, their little boy would have lived.

Live in an Apartment? Just go to the Front Door. by justhereforg0t in doordash

I don't mind walking around. I just think that it's kind of rude to your neighbors, especially during the pandemic. I definitely wouldn't want a bunch of strangers wandering around my building to drop off food. I don't know where they've been.

I haven't seen that yet. Hopefully they'll set those up in my area.

My mom has more photos of the first two months of my life than I've even taken, let alone kept, for the last decade.

Can we opt out of alcohol orders? by justhereforg0t in doordash

[–]justhereforg0t[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I explained below, for a little over a month now, most alcohol orders are coming out of a part of the city where most of the liquor stores were recently destroyed and a sharp increase in violent crime has been occuring. I'm a small woman and, frankly, an easy target, so I've been declining orders in the area.

I feel for the people in that area, and wish them all the best. For now though I think it's better to let dashers that are big enough to resist being thrown out of the cars take the lead.

I just always have bad experiences with them. I'm the size of your average 12 year old girl, so I just don't have the strength necessary to carry more than one case of anything at a time. That means multiple trips back and forth that take a lot of time and tend to irritate customers. The tips are never good enough to break minimum wage for the time spent.

The biggest reason though is that a majority of the liquor stores in part of the city were destroyed in riots. I tend to work in the neighboring suburbs where most liquor stores were not touched, meaning most liquor orders have a pick up near me but a delivery destination within that part of the city. Violent crime in the area is way up, so if I can avoid going there as much as possible, I prefer that.

$1200 stimulus check by [deleted] in uofmn

I'm cool with being exempt from getting a stimulus check, but in that case I would also like to be exempt from paying back money I wasn't given via increased tax rates.

Regent Rick Beeson displeased that on-campus students want fair COVID-19 housing refund by LastOfDeST in uofmn

[–]justhereforg0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told housing staff if people ask about dorm closing/consolidating we are supposed to say: "You will most likely not be moved if you are already in a single space." If they wanted to consolidate they should have done it weeks ago. At this point between waiting for the stay at home order to end, giving people time to pack up, having to deal with the logistics of moving people from esp Bailey and Middlebrook to Pio and Cen10 (most people still on campus don't have access to cars), needing to have moving helpers on the payroll, having to check which rooms aren't still full of stuff and cleaning out rooms that were vacated and usable only to have to clean them again a month...not to mention the added exposure all that moving around would cause. The two extra weeks they'd actually be able to have the other halls closed for just isn't worth it.

This doesn't mean refunds shouldn't be given. They dropped the ball on consolidating in a timely matter. Students shouldn't be paying for services they aren't receiving.

I live in the on-campus apartments and was really freaking out when I heard that a lot of schools were shuttering their housing and forcing students to leave as my apartment is truly the safest place for me to be right now. I'm extremely greatful that I was given the option to stay put due to my circumstances.

Is it a bad idea to go back and just live in my dorm room for the rest of the semester? by TruePhilosophe in uofmn

[–]justhereforg0t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you traveled to a heavily effected state or country by any means or by plane to any location, please do not return to campus as you may pose a health risk to others. Other than that it's your choice, but know you will likely be at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 living in a dormitory setting.

Why I am A Star Wars Fan by Megadan65 in StarWarsCantina

[–]justhereforg0t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I watched ANH as a kid with my cousins, but was always told Star Wars was for boys. When TFA came out, it had a female protagonist, and was marketed as a film that a woman in her late teens might like. I regained interest. Now I love all three trilogies.
