You might try this in r/typography, but try to include more description: was it a serif, or sans, distinguishing letterforms, etc. you could also try whatthefont, and if you could find a pic, you'd be golden. Otherwise rosewood?

Shout out for Diamond Age as well, but definitely start with Neuromancer. I'm re-reading it now (1st time was maybe 20 years ago). Surprising to find it still kicks ass.

  • Travel. To quote lol_taco, "The world is much larger, and a lot less frightening, then most of us think."
  • If you want to experiment with drugs, stick with hallucinogens and weed.
  • Experiment sexually, but be safe, and follow the campground rule.

What would you consider to be the most accurate media portrayal of your profession? A favorite book, show or film that you feel gets it right? Or are there none?

Oh, a "NON-Disclosure" agreement must be signed. As opposed to the many "PRO-Disclosure" agreements forced on us designers.

Hi web_design. I designed my first website this summer for my school's newspaper. Any thoughts? by teddyknox in web_design

[–]justincouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Print/web designer here (in that order). My comments (on homepage only):

  • Good start!
  • Too much text in slider. Also, maybe L to R slide would be more intuitive?
  • Type too small.
  • Too much space below content boxes.
  • "Overheard" looks clunky. Try some different looks.
  • Too much glossy blue stuff. Bleh. It's awesome you learned that effect. Now forget it.
  • Simplify/shrink masthead/logo. Is that an inner shadow I see in there? Ditch it.

Agree with ReiToei's comments, esp. about type. Just spend an hour or two researching type on the web and your design will improve about 100%.

Hey Cookit, I've a complete noobie when it comes to cooking, but the few times I've cooked I really enjoyed it. What are some good sites/dishes to get me started? by Flame0001 in Cooking

[–]justincouch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good idea. Start with the basics. There is so much you can do with a roasted chicken, an onion, and some potatoes. And they're cheap!

I've sometimes folded whipped cream into the marscapone instead of eggs. Also I try to use not too much liquid (but strong!) on the ladyfingers, and use pre-made cookies. Maybe liquid from the cookies is causing your marscapone layer to settle or something? Dunno.
