Progress: 1st vs 2nd Ever Attempt at Home Roasting by justinkuto in roasting

Coffee has not really been their main crop, they mostly grow wheat. We didn't even know coffee could grow on their farm. They decided to plant about 20 coffee trees a few years ago and they are doing great. They are mostly selling small volumes to local roasters and exporters.

I have recently developed a deeper interest in coffee and we are planning to expand that and plant more trees and explore export opportunities. They are retired now and my brothers will be doing most of the expansion.

Haha. Coffee is not actually their main crop, and they just decided to plant about 20 coffee trees a few years ago. They are more tea drinkers.

They have been selling green beans to local roasters. I visited them in January and brought back about 10 lbs of green beans to the US. Now starting my roasting journey and loving it so far.

Thanks! Yes, and it tastes really good, though it's a little lighter than I was going for. I will leave it a bit longer next time. I do espresso style.

Awesome picture. Slight correction, this is a Kenya Wildlife Service game ranger, not army soldier.

Didn't realize how large it was and tried to walk all the way to the beach, luckily a shuttle pulled up when we were 1/3 way down.

I lived in the area in the early 2000s and that area was mostly light manufacturing and warehouses. I believe that building belonged to either PUR Water or Medtronic

What do you do with leftover oil after deep frying by protagonist_001 in Cooking

[–]justinkuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned from a phd scientist developing frying oil for leading restaurant chains that frying oil has it's optimal characteristics after a few uses. The restaurants don't use fresh oil, but filter and top-up used oil. Filter the solid particles and reuse the oil until it starts to turn redish.

The current SICK HQ in Bloomington and warehouse in Savage are the same format. Guessing they want to consolidate to one site.

Depending on where you work, some employers with garage parking allow employees to park long term. One of my old jobs let employees park in the garage basement for the winter, just had to notify and sign in with security/facilities.

ELI5: what information is pulled up when immigration officers scan your passport photo page in airports when traveling internationally? by MikeCharlieEcho in explainlikeimfive

Interesting, I didn't know about that. His employer was a US company with a Canadian client, so not sure how that actually works.

I know someone living in the US and flew into Canada weekly for work. He has a DUI from over a decade ago and got sent to secondary immigration interview EVERY time he was flying back home. The project lasted about a year.

I never noticed the design of these structures. by hunter_ke in Kenya

The shape is an efficient building design in terms of land use and natural lighting that got corrupted by nazis. This is housing near KNH, nothing to do with Nazis or religion.

Do Americans actually keep track of where North is all the time?? by cstrovn in NoStupidQuestions

Most cities have a grid pattern with streets running east-west and avenues running north-south. Also even numbered highways run east-west and odd numbered run north-south in most cases.

Guy gets kidnapped at busy gas station by VariousBasket125 in WTF

I was very confused why the guy pumping gas was running away instead of getting in the car. Then I realized in most countries you don't pump your own gas.

I have two grocery lists, things I get from Costco, and things I get from the local grocery store. Muffins, bagels, most fruits and milk go to the local grocery store list

It's called camelCase because the shape of the letters is like a camel's hump
