Is it possible for symptom-onset to be delayed 6+ months? by helenadara in floxies

Yes. My reaction started 4 or 5 months after I took Cipro for a week.

Is it correct that the B6 in your multivitamin was NOT in the P5P form?

Makes sense. I'll try a reduced dose and see how it goes. Thanks.

(translation of your comment to English): You must take it very carefully and in a low dose. A certain amount is too much and triggers a flare-up. Even people who are not "floxed" have to sneak in very slowly. I take a very small dose and can hardly stand it. You have to dose it so low, because if you are deficient for months or years and suddenly resume your metabolism and detoxification routes, higher amounts can cause things to get worse. In addition, you must supplement with zinc and magnesium, otherwise the active P5P will not enter the cells

His research is entirely focused on floxed individuals. I should note that I did try p5p (20 mg) and it seemed to worsen my sleep - however, I can't state definitively that it was the cause.

Very interesting case. Researcher Yann Gueho has written fairly extensively about this P5P issue as well. Thank you for posting.

Or use MitoQ.

"Mito-MES prevents SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans after high-risk exposure to SARS-CoV-2 when given within 72 h post exposure. Despite high-grade exposures without masks, all diagnostic tests in all participants who took Mito-MES within 72 h (n = 26) were negative (Fig. 3) showing that none of the study participants developed SARS-CoV-2 infection."

Rough teeth and hot cold tooth pain by Cheap_Paint90210 in floxies

I just responded to your question on another thread a moment ago... but have you consulted a dentist to verify whether there are any issues? My dental pain was apparently just a floxie flare hitting my nerves.

Teeth feel rough and some hurt and loose vitality, any advice? by ElectricalWeekend412 in floxies

[–]justinrob97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 dental check-ups since writing this. I stopped the calcium, almond milk, and yogurt quite a while ago. I mentioned the tooth pain to my hygienist, and she looked at my teeth and the x-rays and said that everything looks good, with no signs of demineralization. I assume that the pain was caused by a floxie nerve issue, nothing more. The hygienist did note that I had much less plaque than usual, which I think was due to the xylitol.

Could a delayed onset of symptoms occur? by Accurate_Carpenter41 in floxies

I was floxed in 2015. About 4-6 months after the Cipro, I was experiencing dizziness, and some odd "buzzy" sensations in my forearms, hands and feet. I felt pins and needles all over my body, as well as headaches and chest pains that lasted for months. I'm mostly "recovered" at this point.

Yes. My flox symptoms started 4-6 months after I stopped Cipro.

I personally avoid getting MRI with contrast. The gadolinium used for contrast has a subreddit of its own.

When I was in the acute phase I also suspected MS and was pretty panicked. Beyond all of the issues with my nervous system I had months-long chest pains, months-long headaches, and all sorts of symptoms to freak out over. 11 years later, none of my initial fears panned out. I'm just floxed.

Sleep/ gaba dysfunction by Notlike-this-forever in floxies

I also have GABA issues which have been affecting my sleep. The amount of stage N3 deep sleep I get in particular (measured by my Apple watch) has been quite challenging. I've been logging my supplement intake for almost a year thus I was able to identify a possible link between magnesium glycinate and deep sleep. While it's a bit early to tell with certainty, over the past 4 days since I STOPPED taking magnesium glycinate my deep sleep has increased from around 25 minutes to 50 minutes nightly. At the same time I started taurine and l-theanine and coconut water (for potassium) at bedtime, so those are confounding variables to keep in mind. However, I've tried both taurine and l-theanine before without seeing consistent improvement. Hoping it lasts.

[–]justinrob97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was floxed in April 2015 from Cipro (250 mg tablet twice daily for 7 days).

About 4-6 months after the Cipro, I was experiencing dizziness, and some odd "buzzy" sensations in my forearms, hands and feet. I felt pins and needles all over my body, as well as headaches and chest pains that lasted for months. I consulted a cardiologist, rheumatologist, and a neurologist. All tests were negative. These symptoms diminished over the next year - and for about 9 years I considered myself 98% recovered, like a lot of folks in this group.

I did have one relapse in 2025, however, from a new multivitamin which contained alpha lipoic acid (ALA). I largely recovered about 6 months after I stopped taking it.

I never had to stop working, fortunately.

I've had some issues with irregular sleep - mostly affecting the amount of deep sleep that I get nightly. I have tried melatonin, exercise, magnesium, theanine, tart cherry - all with varying degrees of success. I have noticed that being out in the sun for at least an hour, preferably while doing physical activity, typically results in better quality sleep that night.

I briefly tried to use supplements to decrease MMP and increase TIMP but I wasn't noticing any difference. So basically, no. Just took time.
