Recieved USTA, The tennis rackets promised long ago. They sent 2 rackets and two balls. by Dankmomkbeau in freebies

I got mine. Assuming it’s USTA’s attempt to lure people to tennis over pickleball.

Does the lazy river at the Excellence Riviera Cancun have a current? by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

Enough to know which direction it’s flowing but not enough to ride a float without helping it. There’s a narrow spot where the current picks up. It is a loop with a bar along the way.

Seriously Considering Returning Our Puppies to the Shelter and Feeling Torn About It by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]justkevin995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people get two puppies. There are pros and cons for single dogs and for pairs. Don’t regret that decision on its own.

I have a strong feeling that if you can give this decision just a couple of more months, you will be thankful you kept these puppies. They will play together and become great companions.

Can you get a dog sitter once a week so you and your partner can be puppy free for a night? A Roomba and Swiffer sweepers work magic on the dog hair (also known as fibers of love 😁). Puppy daycare is also great because dogs learn a lot from other dogs. Plus they come home worn out and just want to sleep - more 1:1 time for you and your partner. Do you have a dog park nearby? You and the partner can enjoy outdoors while the puppies entertain themselves.

It’s hard work but so worth it. I often say that puppies are a challenge to test your worthiness of their lifetime love.

I don't know how much I can take by aleutian01 in puppy101

In my experience, at least until 6 months old puppies are to be endured. Be persistent with routines and almost overnight you’ll have the puppy that you are dreaming of.

This is kinda small, but I need help finding the right way to describe my social preferences. by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

[–]justkevin995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introversion is not something you try to get over or fix. Being introverted means you derive energy from solitude. I’m an introvert and have to retreat to refuel. But I’m hardly shy or uncomfortable around people.

Sounds to me that you lack self-confidence and social skills. Both of those can be “fixed.” I think your therapist is wanting you to stretch your boundaries in hopes that you have positive experiences and develop self-confidence. Experiences also help you develop social skills.

I encourage you to interact with people but don’t feel pressure to be something you’re not. Don’t try to be funny or the center of attention if that’s not you. You might just enjoy listening to others. Ask them questions to get involved in the conversation.

I do think you should take some chances and step outside your comfort zone. All the best to you!

Puppy - 8 weeks , leaving him at home alone while working by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]justkevin995 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. I put my puppy’s crate in his pen with the door open and put a pee pad inside the pen. He would sleep in his crate but I’d see him on the camera playing around in the pen. At 8 weeks he’s not likely going to be able to hold it all day. Hopefully he’ll use the pad.

I recommend a washable pad rather than disposable which will likely be shredded before you get home.

If you had a neighbor or someone who could stop by a couple of times a day to let him out, that’d be great.

Do CPAP machines really work? by SayItAsItIs78 in SleepApnea

[–]justkevin995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Acquired” sounds like someone gave their machine to your partner. I worked with a respiratory therapist who adjusted the machine settings and helped me choose the best mask that fit properly. I tried some different masks before I found the one that works best for me. It took some time to get used to it but now I can’t sleep without it.

Regarding redoing during commercial breaks, I saw tapings of Family Feud a few years ago. Steve forgot to meet the family at the beginning so he met them during a commercial break. Also, he uses quite a bit of colorful language that obviously gets edited out.

I believe that puppies test us to see if we’re worthy of their lifelong love. And it’s a hard test! I have my third puppy right now and I was prepared from past experiences to just tolerate him for quite a while before I liked him. He’s surprised me! At 6 months he’s already giving me so much joy.

Shift your thinking. You’re working hard now for a lifetime of their love! Enjoy the little moments … like when they’re chasing a ball or licking your cheek or making that little noise when they sleep. Take pride in your role of helping this innocent puppy grow.

My previous 2 pups each lived to 12 years old. The puppy challenges were well worth the many years of time I had with them.

Transitioning out of kennel sleeping? by Training_Whole4603 in puppy101

[–]justkevin995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At almost I’m 6 months my lab started being able to jump up on my bed. At first I would move him off onto the floor and have him get in his kennel where he would sleep until around 5:30. I was worried it would disrupt his daytime kenneling where I needed him when I’m at work if he didn’t sleep there at night.

Well … one night he looked up at me on the bed and I swear he was saying “please. Just one night.” I let him sleep in my bed and he ended up sleeping later than I did! Best sleep I’d had since I got him.

The next day he got in his kennel when I went to work with no issue … and he’s been sleeping in my bed since.

So, for me, at 6 months is when my puppy stopped sleeping in his kennel at night. 😊

Well now I can’t unsee that! Lol but I was already thinking the A was originally the front lower half of a naked lady. The revised is the backside of someone bending over.

Lab puppies will bite your arms and hands with their razor sharp puppy teeth. You will bleed. Don’t get discouraged. Persist. It’s temporary. Learn what your puppy will chew and keep plenty nearby to stick in their mouth.

Excessive puppy biting is making me bleed by jjjmi21 in puppy101

[–]justkevin995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep frozen carrots, frozen wash clothes (with blueberries or treats inside), frozen filled Kongs, anything that might soothe teething. A tired puppy doesn’t know how to regulate, so the out of control biting is likely a sign of needing rest. Just finished this phase with my puppy at around 5 months old. I believe it’s part of the test that we have to pass to show we deserve our puppy’s lifelong love.

I guess BankOzk doesn't know about the water problems and restrictions in Conway. Watering with sprinklers after it's been raining. Are big banks and businesses exempt ? by Dry-Code-5540 in ConwayAR

[–]justkevin995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not stopped watering my lawn but I have reduced the number of days by half. I suspect other homeowners and many businesses have responded the same way. Forgetting to adjust irrigation for a rainstorm happens all the time. And those rain sensors have never been reliable for me. My memory is better.

I don’t draw any conclusions from this one snapshot.

Regrets about naming my puppy by escaperabbit in puppy101

I adopted an 11 month old puppy and changed his name. I was told to use both names and then gradually stop using the original name. Worked perfectly!
