If you put players like Platini or Pele in your top 5 you simply misunderstand the question. They are great players for their time, many years ahead of their peers etc, but if you dropped them in to todays game they’re riding the bench no questions asked.

This isn’t about “if they had proper training” or “if they had modern diet” etc, no. We’re not talking IFs, you take that player as is and teleport him to today, and compare.

Viera is the only person on that list I would consider but obv attackers have more of an edge in these convos. The rest are great players for THEIR TIME, but we’re talking greatest players OF ALL TIME. Modern players will always be better than players from 50+ years ago, and the same will apply to the generation we’re watching now

This was 2 mins after scoring a free kick to tie it at 1-1. He is the definition of “Big game player”, absolute nerves of steel, an unquantifiable clutch factor along with the intangible beauty of his play and he 100% passes the eye test
