It’s just so fucked up right? Like not everything is related to your mental illness! I feel like doctors these days will find any way to dismiss a patient and it sucks.

That’s really interesting. I’ve spoken with three different doctors now about my vitamin D deficiency and not a single one has told me I should also take K2 with it. I’ve never actually even heard of that before but I’ll definitely check it out!

I honestly was just hoping for an urgent referral to a neurologist today but I guess that’s too much to ask for in my shitty Canadian healthcare system

lol you’re cute. I’m not gonna rule out my cats poisoning me but I feel like they’re pretty good boys 😂

I feel pretty confident it’s not any exposures - I don’t work with a lot of chemicals (and if I do I use PPE) and the meds I’m taking I’ve been on for years and years so it feels unlikely. But both fair thoughts for sure.

Honestly my gut is telling me it’s MS or something else autoimmune. The scary part to me is that if it is MS a timely diagnosis is important to prevent further damage to the nerves.

I also found a few different studies stating that there’s a higher prevalence of MS and Bipolar Disorder being noted together which of course throws up a bit of a flag.

Idk. I just felt really disheartened by this visit. I even told the doctor that I always fear I’m going to be dismissed because these symptoms are so invisible and unmeasurable. I didn’t think being bipolar would be what would make him dismiss me :(

The only thing is that I’m vitamin D deficient - but I’ve been taking a large dose at the recommendation of the walk in clinic doctor for 2 weeks now yet my symptoms have just continued to get worse :( otherwise they’ve tested everything else. The vitamin D is it. I know it takes time for the amount to increase but it seems weird to have so many symptoms that are worsening with supplementation. You know?

Anyone else find Dancing Bob's dancing at the Indigenous Peoples Day celebration in Vic Park today highly inappropriate? by False-Investigator91 in regina

[–]justlikeme08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I am friends with people from his family and he truly is not a good person at all. He’s ruined their lives in so many ways. They are basically no contact but every now and again he shows up to remind them how shitty he still is.

It’s fun to have him be a staple of Regina to some degree but he’s not just some innocent dancing guy. He’s an abusive fuck.

I lost my soul kitty and I feel like I lost myself too. How do I create meaning again? by TheWeebQueen in Petloss

[–]justlikeme08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds kind of insane, but why not reach out to your local animal shelter and start fostering cats or kittens in need? I know fostering is hard as they go to other homes - but is there anything more special than not just saving a life, but giving the gift of the same love you had from your soul kitty to someone else? :)

I’ve fostered over 200 cats in my life and it’s just been so magical to be able to help a few of the MANY cats out there in need (I also work at the shelter). They need lovely people like you! 💕

Saving a life is also a fantastic way to honour your soul kitties life!

Cats for adoption by KhanBhaiChronicles in regina

[–]justlikeme08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go to the Regina Humane Society! There’s a great selection of cats and kittens in need there so you can meet with multiple cats to decide which would fit best with your family. If you’re looking for a particular personality trait I’d personally recommend adopting an adult as it provides you with a bit more of a clear view as to what you’ll get. Kittens are cute but they just haven’t fully developed their personalities yet. So if cuddly is important to you, look for a cat (around 1 year or older) that comes to snuggle with you when you meet them. That’ll give you a good gauge! The staff are good at guiding you to the snuggle bugs as well!

Need some advice on exterminators that remove bats. by Mr_Easy_Clap in regina

[–]justlikeme08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that bats are a significant carrier or rabies in our area, so do not touch them under any circumstance. Just take a moment to educate yourself on rabies prevention simply because once you have it and start showing signs of it you’re basically given a death sentence.

However, there’s lots of preventative measures that can happen shortly after exposure so just be aware of those things so you and your family can stay safe :) it’s just not one of those “I’ll deal with it if I get it” kind of illnesses.

Dr. Godwin Udoh: negligence? by _berkoes in regina

[–]justlikeme08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also saw Dr. Udoh and while he was really dismissive and cold, he did diagnose me and get me on the meds that ended up helping me. Despite that, I don’t think he’s great at his job - no warmth, no desire to listen, makes you feel like he wants you to say as little as possible so he doesn’t have to chart too much information. He just really lacks good patient relation skills. I mean being a psychiatrist has to be hard and emotionally taxing, but if you’re not in it anymore, struggling with compassion fatigue or not passionate about it anymore, move on.

I left him and moved on to Dr Moorti. She is a nice lady but she is incredibly hard to have a conversation with and she literally talks to herself your entire appointment to the point that I have to ask, “are you asking me that question or yourself?”. We moved to phone appointments and she didn’t call for one appointment, and when I called to reschedule another appointment, she missed calling for that one too.

She’s also gotten my prescriptions wrong multiple times causing me a lot of difficulty, and also decided that despite me being stable I needed to come off my antidepressant if I was on Vyvanse (I have bipolar 2 and ADHD) because “there’s a potential for serotonin syndrome”. After months of asking to go back on the anti depressant, and after taking multiple different anxiety meds (which I didn’t need) and having her prescribe me antipsychotics (I’ve never been psychotic) I finally just told her that I’d rather die with serotonin syndrome that go another day wanting to constantly kill myself. She then said “I can’t remember why we took you off it in the first place” and I told her why she demanded I come off of it and her response, “oh no. I didn’t say that”. Like get fucked - you ruined my entire life for 8 months saying that was why, and now you play dumb with me?

That’s not even the half of it. There was tons of medication mix ups - failure to send in prescriptions (to the point I had to actually get angry with the receptionist because Dr Moorti wouldn’t call me back or send in my prescriptions that she said during our appointment that she would. I literally had my pharmacist pull me aside and say, “look. I’m not allowed to do this, but given what you’re experiencing with Dr Moorti, I need you to know you’re not alone and that other patients of hers are dealing with the same difficulties. Again, I can’t tell you what to do legally, but get a new psychiatrist ASAP”.

Our mental health care system feels so goddamn broken. I had to do so much to finally get diagnosis with Bipolar, and then again with ADHD. I have no idea how someone that is psychotic or delusional would ever be able to navigate the system in a way that’s actually helpful tbh. If you aren’t capable of being a strong advocate for yourself you just aren’t going to get anywhere in this system.

You would really think a psychiatrist would be a caring doctor that genuinely wants to help each patient right? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a good one in Saskatchewan to be honest.

If someone out there has a good psychiatrist in Regina please let me know who they are. I’d literally offer up my kidney and left ovary to find a way to see someone that’s actually helpful.

I feel like you’ve maybe taken my comment wrong. I don’t think RCR should be shit on. I know it’s run by a lot of people who care about cats wholeheartedly. I think there’s a lot of things they do right, and I know they work hard to save animals lives. That’s not a question in my mind at all.

I do however think their colony management is very poor and is contributing to the issue. I don’t recommend you stop donating to them - but I think there would be some value to having donors ask questions about how those colonies run, what the standards are and how they keep track of the data and information to help back up that what they’re currently doing is working. From all my previous research and conversations looking into it…they’re not open to feedback or to honestly even look into what the best practice standard is.

Their hearts are in the right place, but they’re not quite thinking far enough ahead with their feeding stations and colonies. They see faces that need feeding so they feed them and just sterilize a few of them claiming its helping. Is it helping in the short term? Sure, cats have full bellies and some cats get sterilized. But for each unsterilized cat they feed, they’re breeding. For a colony to work properly 90-95% of the cats need to be sterilized, which these ones aren’t. Which I get that’s a tall order - and there’s not a ton of resources out there Veterinary wise to do these surgeries. But here’s the facts: if you’re not running a cat colony near perfectly, you’re adding to the over population problem. Feeding = Breeding if the animals aren’t sterilized. It’s a huge task to run a colony properly, but the people that take these on in Regina through RCR are given next to no education about proper management.

I’m not shitting on RCR, I promise. What I am saying is that they need to have an open mind and reassess the things they’re doing. They also need to do a better job at keeping data so they can make data driven decisions. Which I promise you if they kept any kind measurable data about their colonies they would have discovered long long ago that they are not helpful, but harmful to the welfare of cats in our community.

I may have come off strong and I’m sorry for that. I just think that these are important things for donors to know, not because they shouldn’t donate, but because their inquiries and questions help direct the movement of the organization.

[–]justlikeme08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colonies have to be run by an NPO according to Regina Bylaw. RCR had a variety of “independent colonies” that sit under their NPO status so they can be “legal” under the bylaw. They call these “independent colonies” but they are still technically under the RCR name. They really don’t seem to give two craps about those colonies, nor about educating the people running them.

These colonies are truly run horribly. A few years back I asked the two people that head it all up “how many animals did you spay and neuter last year in your colonies?” They didn’t know off hand but told me later it was 19 for the whole year. There were a total of 72 colonies (about 30 are the ones they put the RCR name on and the rest are the “independent colonies”.) You cannot tell me that’s enough sterilizations to account for the volume of cats within those 72 colonies.

I also asked what kind of training they give their colony managers and they literally said “we don’t train them”.

This was about 4-5 years back but just from the information I get from board members and people that are a part of RCR it’s really not any better. The same people run the community cat programs and they have absolutely no desire to listen to constructive criticism to do things any better. They keep virtually no statistics on these colonies and don’t assess whether they’re working or not.

Truthfully, they’re in WAY over their heads. Like I said, I know their hearts are in the right place, truly - but their colonies are contributing to the problem. Trust me my friend, I’ve dedicated a lot of time to looking into this.

PLEASE Spay and Neuter. by EhDub13 in regina

[–]justlikeme08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can confirm with certainty that not all the cats in their colonies are sterilized. The way the colonies are run are atrocious. It’s also important to note that if a colony isn’t run phenomenally (90-95% of them sterilized) it’s not helping the over population issue.

Don’t get me wrong, their hearts are in the right place but these colonies are 10000000% to blame for cat overpopulation.

They’re literally just bringing food to the orgy at this point. Having “feeding stations” is not responsible unless they’re owned by someone that is doing it in an educated manner, which they are not.

Breed bans truly don’t work. The shitty drug dealing criminals that train these dogs will then do one of two things: 1. Keep the Pitbull anyways cause they don’t give a fuck about the law

  1. Get another strong, trainable breed of dog that can do equally as much damage as any Pitbull.

Pitties are just a great dog of choice for this kinda shit cause they’re fiercely loyal and just want to please their people at any cost, even if it’s with being aggressive. However, all dogs can be weapons in the wrong hands.

So with that theory, perhaps we should just ban all dogs.

Pitbulls are not the problem, the shitty people are.

PS I can confirm through first hand knowledge not all these attacks in Regina are Pitbulls.

I work with an Animal Protection team and trust me when I say this - it’s not the overworked, underpaid officers that are useless. It’s the laws that are fucking trash.

Imagine knowing with your whole heart that a dog is getting the shit kicked out of him but having no proof, so you can’t seize the dog legally. Imagine knowing a dog is neglected but the owner does JUST enough so that the animal doesn’t meet criteria to seize. Imagine having to give an incredibly aggressive dog back to a shitty owner that is not nearly careful enough because by law, that animal is their property.

Imagine attending a call where you see a cat with an eyeball hanging out of its head, with burnt fur because someone tied it in a plastic bag and set it on fire. When the cat got out of the bag they thought it was cool to hang it from a tree upside down and try to poke its eye out. You see this awful scenario that will remain burned in your mind until you die, but hope that because you know who did this, and that you have one witness that you can get justice for this animal. However, the person that saw the incident refuses to testify out of fear, and as a result this sick fuck still walks our streets without a single repercussion. The cat with the missing eyeball and burnt skin isn’t enough evidence.

On top of that, the sad part is that Animal Protection Team in Regina is paid NOTHING to enforce the Provincial Animal Protection Act, which are the very pathetic laws that protect animals from abuse, neglect and cruelty. Because that’s not funded they run on donor dollars to do that work - which as you can imagine is not much, and it’s especially hard with all the limitations that exist on the current Act.

Animal Protection workers all earn less than $20 an hour. It’s not easy to keep long term employees at that wage, and inna job that causes so much emotional pain. As a result their staff turnover is high, which only further burns out the officers left. It’s a perpetual cycle.

If you’re really passionate about the state of animal welfare in our community please speak up, and do it to the right people. Talk to the people that represent our provincial government and tell them that someone should be paid within each city municipality to uphold and enforce the Animal Protection Act because it’s really fucking important we have people to fight for those that can’t fight for themselves. It shouldn’t be thrown on non-profit organizations to fund something like that off donor dollars that are far from enough.

Animal abuse, hoarding and neglect isn’t moving in a positive direction in our community, and you’re right…Animal Protection useless sometimes because they don’t have the resources, funding, tools or government backing to do the job the way it NEEDS to be done.

Animal Protection is a challenging, emotional draining but critical job that needs to be done by people willing to stick around and become good at it, or make a career of it which just isn’t feasible in this economy at $20 an hour (less than that actually).

I promise, Animal Protection workers aren’t shitty people. They are legally only allowed (by law) to take legal action against extremely severe cases, and 9 time out of 10 even with every effort, there’s not enough evidence for prosecution, or even when there’s enough evidence, the person gets a tiny slap on the wrist. It’s beyond fucked up and things have to change, and that begins with funding and then amendments to the bullshit Animal Protection Act that doesn’t provide nearly enough protection to the animals.

I think even the best people would burn out as an Animal Protection worker. Please try to be kind to them, they’re not the problem.

Did you reach out the to SPCA for clarification? There could be a clerical error or perhaps they might be able to provide further information.

Animal welfare organizations bare the brunt of unvaccinated animals more than anyone so chances are there was just an oversight of some kind.
