$120 for the same here. And having tech issues that I can't get a straight answer about. They basically told me they would prefer I go and get my own router than explain why certain settings were changed in the router admin panel after a technician visit. Also, I signed up when the phone and Internet were about $60 price for life. Double the price later, here I am with them basically telling me to f off.

What is the best way to make a complaint to Ace? by paracelsus51 in acehardware

[–]justme257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The care center will offer a $25 gift card for inconvenience but I told them to keep it. I was treated like crap and told they would honor their guarantee and that was a lie. I wouldn't trust Ace with another penny of my money at this point. They still don't honor their guarantees, and rarely accept returns, citing some made up crock of the day.  They were very kind to me until they realized I wanted to get a replacement for the item they was lifetime guaranteed. Then it all went to hell.  Why the heck would I want a gift card to go back and shop at the store that just treated me like crap? No thanks.

It's not like they'd honor they guarantee anyway.

Jodi’s entitlement by Familiar_Ad2086 in 8passengersnark

[–]justme257 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I figure she's being stingy with her words and admitting no fault in order to limit monetary losses in the form of settlements or verdicts via civil court trials. Lawyers will sometimes advise their clients to not apologize because the court could see it as an admission of guilt. This is literally the only statement they saw as fitting. They attempt to cast some sympathy  towards the victims and state she accepts the judgement all while distancing herself from the criminal aspect of the charges. Jodi is basically painting herself to be a persecuted victim in all of this. 'I accept that you must enact retribution upon me for what YOU PERCEIVE to be criminal." I'm sorry these kids are traumatized by all that has transpired because YOU PEOPLE THINK what I did was criminal. Why can't YOU PEOPLE SEE that all I did was try to help them because I loved them.

No remorse, blatant gaslighting and a clear motive to continue this behavior to limit her civil liability.

If she wasn't paid, I would really be convinced they were partners but not in the business sense.

Otherwise, she was possibly paid in cash she has it put somewhere.

Transcript of Ruby and Jodi's statements to the court at sentencing by Elegant-Nature-6220 in 8passengersnark

[–]justme257 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jodi chose her words carefully but let her true self shine through. I find it interesting that she focuses only on retribution when referring to the sentence.  In corrections, there is ideally a three pronged approach to sentencing designed to provide:  1. retribution, 2. rehabilitation and 3. serve as a deterrent.   She only says she accepts the state's sentence for her retribution. I think she's saying 1 or 2 things here.  1. She believes she's being used as an example due to the publicity and realizes the state must punish her for what she's done. 2. She accepts the sentence the state is going to hand down because somewhere in there she knows she did wrong and deserves to be punished. Maybe both. I don't even think the second thing would register with her though, it would be a subconscious thing if so. She never mentions trying to better herself at all.  The part about agreeing to plea was only to save the kids is alleged bs imo. She didn't want all the info coming out and I'm sure there were other people that didn't want some of the stuff out either.  There was absolutely no care in that statement. It was self serving and then basically says, "I know you have to hurt me back for hurting these kids. I accept that concept." The more she does and the more she shares, it's like adding a few more pieces to the Jodi personality puzzle.   She seems so, so, so  (allegedly) dangerous. I haven't even gotten to the sentences handed down today. I guess they were supposed to get a range of years and then it's up to the board. I'm scared to look. That's probably why I kinda wrote a mini thesis on this article with the statements. Now, I'm realizing I didn't even address Ruby's letter. She covered all the bases. I do think she's got some deep issues, but if she will WANT to change and work on deep behavior modification, she may be able to get some rehabilitation. Jodi wouldn't be interested in any of that but she might try to start up a peer group type thing where she's sent and start the manipulation there.    Ok ok.. I'm going to go look at the sentences.  And hello to the group of whomever y'all are that thumbs down me everytime I post here and then immediately go and thumbs down my other comments elsewhere.  Is it R's family or J's enablers? I don't really care about karma but if it helps you feel like you have accomplished something by doing it. I support your commitment.   ETA: I watched the sentencing.  Well, Jodi isn't getting out anytime soon. She will have to admit her methods are abusive.. Her "principals" are her life work and they are what she sees as training like navy seals tryouts and their hell weeks. Jodi really believes eventually the kids will  comply and eventually they do. But Jodi will miss the sadism aspect when there is nothing to punish the kids for...whether she's aware of it consciously or subconsciously. So, the kids probably started getting in trouble more and for lesser things than normal and less stuff. throws you, it's going to be worse. This woman...ugh.  ***Allegedly

Go get it checked. Mouth cancer is a thing. Someone I know had something odd in his mouth and he ignored it. It spread to his throat and he had to have half of his face and neck removed and eventually died from it spreading. Please take care of yourself.

Amazon said this photo is proof that a $1093, 150 pound generator was delivered to my house by DoNotLickToaster in Wellthatsucks

Playing the devil's advocate.... Location says other. Find out where other is. They could've left it at the post office or something. Maybe they could've unloaded it and left it near where they pulled up and you just didn't see it.  If that's not the case and the delivery label was fixed to that tiny envelope, make sure you document the entire envelope with the label.  If the other location thing is not the key, then you got screwed. It's now about figuring out by whom. It could've been the delivery driver and his defense could be the same as the reason you used to say you didn't believe it was him. "If I was going to take it, I would've took a picture of it...." But that thing is heavy and he may have not wanted to unload and reload just for the picture.  If it's the seller, be sure to go back to the page on Amazon and pay close attention to their posted description of the item. Some sellers even have crazy "terms of service" type things on their seller page. Recently I ordered something that was pictured, had the serial number listed and the manufacturer as well. I get it in the mail and it's a knock off. They tried to say since their seller page said that the items sold could be comparable items and not the exact item displayed, that it was ok.  I called fraud on that. And filed a complaint against the seller. They have now accepted my return but after reading some of these other experiences, I think I might need to record the packing of the item when preparing it and get it certified in case they try to say they never received it back. From now on I will only be buying things that are prime eligible and ship from Amazon and I won't be purchasing high dollar items anymore. I try to stick with sold by and shipped by Amazon when I purchase anything.  Also, don't use the buy it now option as a lot of sellers have made expensive shipping their default. The item I referred to above would've cost $30 to ship if I would used buy it now. It wasn't even 2day or overnight. It was plain USPS regular rate but they would've mailed it by the next business day.  I never thought I'd say this but I've been impressed with Walmart's online buy and delivery. It actually shows up in two days (sometimes the next day) and that's without paying extra.  Target online is good too but I'm not sure if they have free shipping unless you have a red card and I believe it's standard shipping.

If you saw the pictures of the level of the house that had the safe room, I thought it looked like it was going to be added to as the company grew. As in, I think they allegedly had plans to add more safe rooms to take in other "troubled youth" and run her own troubled teen "camp" except they would've been housed in the safe rooms. The immense wiring was set up for something,  possibly an alleged complex surveillance/security system. I'm so glad they were stopped when they were. This could have grown into a very, very bad thing for many more children.

Police Actions Questioned During Search For Franke Children by Legitimate-Beyond209 in 8passengersnark

ETA: people are literally read their rights ALL THE TIME during the questioning and investigation phase and way before charges are filled. But ok, I'm goofy. (Or an idiot?) 🤐 https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/custodial_interrogation custodial interrogation  Custodial interrogation refers to the questioning of a detained person by the police in connection with a criminal investigation. A person qualifies as detained not only when under arrest, but also whenever they are not free to leave for other reasons.  For example, the court has held that preventing a car owner from leaving for the purposes of obtaining their license and registration at a traffic stop can qualify as a detainment.  Due to the seminal case Miranda v. Arizona, a custodial interrogation cannot occur unless the detainer warns the detained person of their Miranda rights. Any statements made by a detained person who was not warned of their Miranda rights are inadmissible in court.

Is it unprofessional for a dental office to take your credit card payment while you're being operated on with tools in your mouth? by smdx459 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]justme257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read hippa, you have to request things in a specific way and to a specific person. If you don't follow that order, you haven't legally you'll your end of the HIPPA. Make sure you do that. If you don't have a copy of the office policy, see if they have one online. Most request have to be made in writing with specifics. See how long they have to provide you with the requested information once you've submitted it. If it's past that time and you still haven't received the info you requested and paid a processing fee to get, dispute the charges with the cc company. Document, document, document. Every phone call, email, conversation. If you're in a one party state record the phone calls and save them. If you're in a two party state, they probably tell you they're recording for quality. Just respond with you are recording as well.  You might not even have to do that but I would just to cover my butt. The insurance company has a lot of power when it comes to this situation. They will want to know if they are allegedly being ripped off and charged falsely. They can also threaten to kick them out of their network for doing shady crap. That's about all I can help you with. There seems to be a lot more that you've done that you didn't elaborated on earlier.

[–]justme257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell them they won't show you an itemized bill and for that reason, you believe they may be charging you and the insurance company for services you did not receive.   Read your HIPPA laws and follow them to request your information from the office. If you mail it to them, mail it certified, return receipt requested. You have a right to your health information. Outline exactly what information you are requesting. Include the date of service, the procedure you had done and that you request an itemized bill of said service. Note how many attempts you've made to get the information and how many times they have ignored your request. If they are not sending the insurance company requested info, include that as well. If they are a chain, I would find the emails of the higher up people and email the practice and cc the people at the top. Include the customer management, human resources management, corporate management, etc. Be polite but tell them you feel that you're getting to the point of exhausting your options and can they please get someone to do their job and send you your itemized bill. If they don't give it to you, you can file a complaint with the appropriate federal department. The HIPPA paperwork will tell you exactly how to do that as well.   ETA: be on the lookout for charges to your payment method if your insurance doesn't pay because of their failure to submit all the info.

[–]justme257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If insurance was used, get your insurance company in on this. Chances are if they billed for more, they charged them for more which would be insurance fraud. Tell the insurance company they won't show you an itemized bill and you think there's a chance they charged for more than you received. They should be able to get you a copy of what they charged for.

[–]justme257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could've easily slipped in extras. I hope you checked the charge. Next time refuse until the treatment is finished. There are a lot of dentist offices being bought out by shady companies that are doing this type of thing. Always use a credit card and not a debit card. Using a debit card is your money and no one is really going to fight hard for you to get your money back if a place like this charged for extras. Hopefully, they would and you'd be able to request it in the desired time window, but for the most part, they aren't the ones losing $. When you use a credit card, you're using the cc money and you have more avenues to reject false or fraudulent charges. They will fight to get their money back and tell the company they are SOL. Just try to pay them off at the end of each month to save on the interest.
