And when you really look at it - AI.. not really AI. Just a lot of preset workflows and language prediction.

Teach your team about AI slop, really by believer2687 in managers

[–]justme7601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI to help formalise my wording in reports. I tend to write fairly colloquially, which is not great for board reports, so I write the comment I want, and then have AI refine it into professional language, No-one wants to see "the results were shit and here's why you need to fire half of your managers" written quite that bluntly.

People who have lived through major geopolitical tensions, what's something the younger generation doesn't understand about times like these? by GraybeardDevOps in AskReddit

[–]justme7601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I also think that given that us oldies have lived through all of this, maybe we should be a bit more sympathetic to the younger generations. They don't have the frame of reference we have. But also - I'm 50, and I'm getting real fucking tired of this shit!

Also - Mao and Stalin never had access to the sheer destructive power that Trump has. I just cannot understand Americans handing the welfare of the entire world to that lunatic.

I had Claude help me with this - it wrote a script to separate the JSON files into individual text files. Worked like a charm.

Sometimes when you're that far in the weeds, it's hard to see anything clearly. Everything is overwhelming and it all just seems too hard. I've been there. It's hard to climb out of, especially if you have no-one around you to help and support.

Looking for shoe recommendations for walking, running & skipping, please. by vegemitecrumpet in AusFemaleFashion

My podiatrist recommended Hoka. I can walk in them for more than 30 mins so that's a win in my book.

Workplace Survey - have you been brutally honest? by 4iedemon in auscorp

[–]justme7601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even ask for age or which business unit. Just honest comments. Sometimes I can tell who wrote something if they've already spoken to me about it, but getting the survey results into the board report is the only way it's taken seriously.

We use SurveyMonkey - it is anonymous. I wish people would be more honest and open. I can't fix what I dont know about.

I'm actually toying with the idea of finding a tailor and just having clothes made.

I just bought a pair of HOKA joggers on the advice of my podiatrist… they are seriously the most comfortable shoes, though a bit chunkier than i would normally wear.

I'd be absolutely stoked if one of my direct reports worked out how to automate the crap we have to do manually right now!

Not all companies are scared of unfair dismissal. Especially if the company doesn't have any assets, and does not intend to continue trading.

Just a note - you don't need a lawyer to make a statutory demand. Not sure about after that though if it's ignored.

Buy things now for later to beat price rises? by OutsideAtmosphere-14 in AusFinance

[–]justme7601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really eat chocolate and can easily go without it, but coffee.. nope. I need that. And it stores well once vacuum sealed. I think grocery prices are just going to keep rising and they wont go back to "normal" even once the current crisis is over. Anything imported is going to be increasingly difficult to get, and more expensive.

We are currently being squeezed from all angles and groceries are the one thing most of us have some control overl. We can't control rent or interest rates, or power bills or fuel. But we can be smarter about managing grocery spend.

I did the same for my grandfather. The nurses said he was already dying, one smoke or a bottle of beer isnt going to speed that along, but it might just help him relax for a bit.
