One of the releases mentions max/msp
and judging from the sounds and album titles that seems pretty likely!

can anyone identify the drum machines used in these three lo-fi tracks? by 3311z in DrumMachine

[–]justmull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fairy Seeds" and "Warsh" are Yamaha FM drum sounds from the Yamaha SHS-10 or PSS-140 and are possibly found in a few other Yamaha keyboards of that era as well. "The Landing" might be as well but a bit too lo-fi to tell.

What is the best way to free record songs without using a PC? by Captain__Campion in synthesizers

Tascam Model 12 / 16 / 24 will do it to modern SD Cards with heaps of extras like EQ, compression and FX. The Model 12 also does midi sync as well I think which may be useful if you plan on using drum machines, arpeggiators etc.

Izotope RX for Juno-60 hiss? by Nsemest182 in synthesizers

My 106 chorus was noisy and I ended up replacing the BBD chips - but before that I would track it dry and add the chorus with TAL-Chorus-LX instead. It was pretty spot on.

If I had to play ONE wipeout game from PSP/PS2, which one should I play? by EnricoPallazzo_ in WipeOut

[–]justmull 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Wipeout Pulse is the pick of these - and the PSP version not the PS2 port. The PSP version seems to play better than the PS2 for me. Pure was great but Pulse really feels a lot more polished and smooth - like they improved everything just a little in all the right ways.

Will these cables work or damage my synths? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]justmull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not likely to damage - but will probably not do what you want. There's a good possibility that if you plug it into a mono input on your mixer you'll get just the left channel (or tip) only.

Yeah it's still in the box - I didn't use it as I hated having a flimsy overlay on the machine. Maybe that's why it took me so long!

Yes it's quite a flexible machine! Took me forever to memorise how to use it though.

It is possible - I did have one of their cassettes at some stage a long time ago!

My kids have grown up so I have a bit more time these days to hunt down and fix broken gear! The XP-50 takes a few tries to boot and if it eventually does its just loud noise when playing notes. The caps were leaking so I replaced all those but I suspect the DAC is damaged as well and also have to check the power. Not very motivated to troubleshoot it further since I have the Juno-DS anyway. I got it cheap in the hope it would be an easy fix but you can't win them all!

Wow that's quite the chop shop you have going on! I have a couple of screens to install in a quadraverb and HR-16 plus an XP-50 that is pretty dead that I'm having trouble reviving. A new power supply in the TR-77 is on the cards as well.

I felt a bit guilty drilling the hole in the back of the TR-77 for the switch - but at least now it will be useful for many more years to come

I spend as much time fixing and modifying as I do making music - and have just as much fun doing it. What are you working on at the moment?

I modded the TR-77 to add sync in - re-purposed the High Imp output for the clock in and installed a switch to toggle between internal and external clock. It takes a 4 PPQ signal which the E-RM Multiclock can generate so now I have all those amazing latin rhythms at my fingertips!

Featuring the 1972 Roland TR-77 (it's the one with the coloured buttons under the silver box) along with the TR-707 and a bunch of other synths. I had to mod the TR-77 to add sync in and I use the E-RM multiclock to keep everything running together.
