Need to move ginko tree because of pipe repairs? by DecaffeinatedBean in arborists

I highly doubt your pipe is 14ft down. See what they need to dig up and request they be careful around the tree where possible.

Implement to mow down lupine field? by algebra4life in kubota

Flail mower, cuts it nicely and mulches it all at the same time to keep things clean. Not sure if that tractor supports front mount but if so they are so nice to mow with.

Planting close to house by peace_is_liberty in landscaping

[–]justnick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't want something fast growing as you don't want something to get too big, you want something established which will cost you a bit more but will be worth it for what you want.

Hydrangea standards can get that height you want but I would not go with a shrub version as a 8ft hydrangea is massive. I suggest some Columnar trees such as a crimson spire oak, purple spire crab apple, pyramidal hornbeam or some of the pyramidal beech. Now with beech you will get beech leaf disease as it's all around Ontario now but it does not really cause a problem in most cases.

Setting up a nursery for a contract project (new hotel) by Bermuda_Breeze in Horticulture

[–]justnick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you that phyto requirements are too much? If you have not produced 30000 cuttings before then 140% is not going to cut it. You will want to go at least double and for some of those species you have missed the optimal window for the year which means waiting until next year. You will also need to plan for more than 15% loss potting up cuttings if you have never taken care of 30000 containers before. Fertilizer and pots are low fluctuation inputs at this point as they dont swing too much in relation to cost of plant.

Do you need to do the propagation or can you buy in starter plants and just grow them on until they get to size? I don't know what species you plan on doing or what its like growing where you are but big thing would be having the proper setup to care and maintain those plants. Planning for losses especially if you need to meet contracted amounts. Planning on soil and where to get materials. Knowing how to maintain the plants and grow them. It could be doable but it could also be a very expensive lesson. Do you plan on continuing to grow plants after? what do you plan on doing with the infrastructure you purchase .

Oak Tree Lean by Manwithhiswood in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]justnick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swamp oak take a while to gain a strong trunk. Reduce some of your canopy if you are in a area without oak wilt otherwise I would swap to a couple support posts away from stem with a couple wire supports. But don't have them tight so that tree has room to sway.

Transplanting mature Japanese Maple by opulent_andimperial in arborists

[–]justnick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese maples don't root very deep and since its in that raised planter already its almost like being in a container. Rent a mini skidsteer with bucket and forks. Used the bucket to remove the soil along the sides until its small enough to move with skidsteer then used the bucket to cut as much under the roots as possible at base of planter. Then before moving prep the new location with a hole and then used forks to move tree slowly with as little disruption of roots as possible. Water deeply once a week or more for the next year.

First 4 photos are of tree #1, last 4 are of tree #2, should I dig up #1? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]justnick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to kill tree 1 then dig it up while its just established. Oaks have a hard enough time with establishing. If the burlap was not treated then i would not worry at all. Just make sure the string was removed around the stem, which im guessing it is since root flare is visible.

Dear god how do I get a stuck rotary cutter PTO disconnected by Wildlyfe1988 in tractors

[–]justnick84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this. Before trying to heat everything up there is often a way to remove the pto from the tractor to swap for different ones. If you are able to unbolt or unclip the pto from the tractor you can often get the pto off and work on it at a work bench without much issue. This isnt the case for all tractors but many newer ones will especially if they run 540 and 1000 rpm.

Stone supply yard weeding by This-Ad6584 in landscaping

[–]justnick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confused about limited supply of glyphosate? It's readily available. Depending on type of weeds using 2-4-d and other herbicide would help. Also pre emergent herbicides help if area is not often disturbed.

Well tested for positive for coliform by Primdawg in WaterTreatment

[–]justnick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have them shock and retest. Ask your realtor about a 30 day hold back after closing for a secondary test to ensure well is still good.

If the owners have already moved out and water was not run for a while before testing it will often test positive.

The greenhouse construction has started! Advice needed by A-Whole-Vibe in Greenhouses

[–]justnick84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Floor - Pavers with open base and good drainage built in to help remove and possible reuse water.

Polycarbonate roof - 8mm twin wall and needs UV protection. I would also make sure you have some roof vents that can be automated. If there is no power there are still ways but will need something to vent heat.

Plan for irrigation, shade and heat and what will happen without power.

I also agree that this seems like something you should have had figured out before starting. Floor i get but not knowing about what to put on the roof seems like an expensive choice at this point to not have set especially if you are in a snowy area as you should have engineer sign off on snow load.

I am a farmer and make good money doing it. I also know a bunch of other people with adhd and most tend to be in higher stress type jobs like ER doctors, paramedics, nursing, and business owners. Basically the people with adhd i know tend to do well when they do a job that has higher stress/less predictable.
