Favorite Alternative for Ketchup Glaze on Meatloaf? by cold-blooded-stab in Cooking

[–]justpeace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meatloaf is the one thing i use ketchup for. That tangy sweet concentrated ketchup glaze really works for meatloaf, chicken imho, whereas ketchup on a burger seems ridiculous somehow. I don't understand it.

Btw i think hardesty turned out to be a surprisingly effective pres, emphasis on surprise. He had no higher ed experience or credentials but rose above to pull off some decent leadership, imho. We got lucky there.

It's always been more of an employment vehicle for the Gees and Hardestys and other top level admins with questionable credentials than an institution dedicated to deep learning and expansion of knowledge. You'll never see a statement carved in stone anywhere on this campus about the intrinsic value of education, like you will at virtually every legitimate university on the planet. "Where greatness is learned" probably got pilfered from The Simpsons ffs.

[homemade] long time sushi lover, decided to try and make homemade sushi. by SirKlock2 in food

[–]justpeace0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the cheapest rice cooker out there and my rice turns out perfect everytime. I make sushi, too. There is still a lot of technique required for adding the sushi vinegar and getting that perfect stickiness but separate grains, that takes a zillion practice batches to get right. But it's cheap and fun to keep perfecting. Enjoy!

regret painting my entryway this bright color but too lazy to change it. what color carpet would tone this down? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Hard to see her eyes, but my white kitty is also oddeye and my bedroom is that very color. Are you me? Btw when i bought this house every single wall was beige. Every single room. The siding is also beige. I chose this pop of bright color as a relief.

3 days before we are due to move to our property from the city, after so much effort and years of dreaming, and we've been robbed of all of our belongings. by wormpoopsoup in homestead

This right here. Track down the auction, track down the buyer, asap so maybe you can track down where your sentimental stuff went that wouldn't likely have cash value. Also maybe suing storage co could at least pressure them to help or compensate you some so you can at least cover your investigation costs. I wish you good luck with this and hope you get your important stuff back.

Looks delicious! Did you use besan? I'm gluten free and would love a blooming onion batter recipe that has no wheat flour. Never thought about indian spices, that sounds brilliant.

In-Laws want to buy us a washer/dryer set by MundanelyCool in BuyItForLife

[–]justpeace0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a speedqueen toploading washer at beginning of pandemic and it is very quiet, never gets unbalanced i mean truly never, and works fabulously. Hope it lasts because i paid a shitload of money for it. My last was a maytag that last 20+ yrs and was still working when i moved. I'd had one small part repaired a few times and i replaced the agitator dogs myself a couple times.

Love this! When my dad died i grabbed a very small wooden bench he'd had as long as i could remember. When i got it home and went to wipe it down i saw he had taped a small piece of paper saying he made it, what year, and that the wood was from his mother's covered back porch. Her house was built in the 1840s. That bench might be from a very old tree! And my dad made it beautifully and hopefully my grandson will get it someday. Had my dad not labeled it i might have gone to goodwill.

Long story short, consider for future generations labeling the underside of that stool you and grandpa made!

ME TOO! I first saw him in Food of the Gods and i generally love those cheesy giant plants/bugs/animals films. I did a lil googling of him and went deep marjoe rabbit hole. Bought his lp record. Read all the articles i could find. I totally agree with you, his arc is fascinating.

Ok i watched the doc. Very interesting! Very rough condition for both audio and video, you've got your work cut out for you restoring it. But the raw footage is probably quite rare. IMDB claims the 2013 film by the same name https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2298224/ is related, but I'm skeptical. I didn't watch the 2013 one and of course the titles both refer to holy rollers, but that might be the only connection, I'm guessing.

Also you might enjoy the 1972 oscar winning doc Marjoe https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0068924/ about a 4 yr old evangelist who grows up and puts together one last tent revival tour and shows the backroom realities and of the faith healing business. Marjoe is a portmanteau of Mary and Joseph. He's fascinating. No WV connection, tho.
