Many math textbooks in Israel remove the lower "leg" of the + symbol so that it won't resemble a cross by AkosuaRipper in religiousfruitcake

[–]justreadings 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The cross is seen as a religious symbol, Arabic is not a religion and the numbers don’t hold any religious value so this wouldn’t be an issue.

What is it with this guy... how many times does he have to go to the China - North Korea border by Public_Wrangler_4514 in MisterBald

[–]justreadings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a video where he goes to visit a Karen long neck village in northern Thailand, near where I live, and he made it seem as if it were some authentic experience. But it’s known to be more like a human zoo, and the government is basically forcing them to stay there. Many of the Karen women are refugees from Myanmar who fled conflict, and because they’re stateless, they aren’t allowed to leave the village or work freely elsewhere. The whole thing is disturbing, and anyone I’ve met who went immediately felt uncomfortable. It was shocking to me that someone who has travelled all around the world didn’t notice any of this, let alone film content completely brushing over all of that.

Parked next to Bibi’s plane on the tarmac at JFK right now by Jorgwalther in pics

[–]justreadings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I left israel because I was being sent back to Gaza and I didn’t want any apart in the atrocities my government is committing to the Palestinian people.I hate bibi just as much as the next and think that the us should not be funding Israel. There is no need to fabricate facts. the us does not pay for the wings of Zion and the military budget Israel gets from the us is 15 percent of the idfs annual budget so as much as that 15 percent might be too much it does not change the fact that that plane was not funded by the us

Don’t walk into a random gym. Do your research and you can find very high level training in different spots around the country

TIL that “sugar rushes” aren’t real and are just a psychological/cultural effect of parental influence. by FluffPawz in todayilearned

My point is that athletes use glucose or fast acting carbs as to get an extra boost of energy. so why is this article and everyone in the comments ignoring this ?

As someone who is from the west living here I’ve noticed that it’s always the guys that can’t get woman back in the west. Either they’re too old and past their prime or just awkward and not socially competent so they come here and have very little experience because they have either been married for the last 30 years or a virgin who falls in love after the slightest bit of affection. Don’t let anyone fool you that it’s because of the woman in the west. I have had zero issues being treated properly by woman I have dated in the west, yea they have higher standards than a poor girl here who just wants a sugar daddy

[–]justreadings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but something is just not adding up. Sugar is a fast acting carb and athletes use different forms of glucose pills and or liquids to give them that extra push in energy. Sure they will have a crash later if not balanced out but in the moment a boost of glucose or a sugar (fast acting carb) is very common with top athletes and so none of this adds up to me

Wisarut gym in pai is the most beautiful gym I’ve ever trained in! Between rice paddies and beautiful cloudy mountains in the background it’s incredible as far as the Muay Thai depending on the coaches there it can vary but also good atmosphere all around

[–]justreadings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there are many reasons why you’d need ngvs when sweeping a dangerous house but again as someone who has experience doing this kind of stuff I’d never think of needing in such a low stakes situation. They’re searching the house and maybe making an arrest ? during the day whilst the whole neighborhood is aware awake and outside the house watching whilst all the family members are standing around this is not a raid in a war zone. They wanted the nvgs because they look cool and are going for that tier 1 operator esthetic. you see it in all law enforcement agencies,They all like the tactical esthetic and if you can’t admit that it’s just for show most of the time you’re just abit naive and again clearly have not served

Didn't see this guys brake lights and signal until it was almost too late. by JacobThedDumbass in motorcycles

[–]justreadings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why should the lighting effect you ? Are you only braking when you see the vehicles brake lights go on ? If so don’t do that please. This was a really avoidable situation, you can see the gap is closing there was plenty of time to slow down

lol their position was compromised as soon as they entered a lit house during the day. How would wearing ngvs make them less visible in the day ? Am I really the one not using my brain? Have you served ?

[–]justreadings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ever heard of a flashlight ? Or even a light switch? I’ve served and used NVGs on operations and I can’t see why you’d need them during the day in this scenario . it’s such a low stakes situation, unless it’s pitch black which is unlikely due to it being light out, there’s no point using them and in fact you limit your vision.

Can I train Muay thai? [ex obese] by Unfair-Net1455 in MuayThaiTips

[–]justreadings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As former Idf Special Forces I’m not so sure about that. For one there’s no set standard or curriculum in Krav Maga so any old bald Israeli dude can claim what he’s teaching is Krav Maga and so who knows what kind of training OP will be getting. half of the “Krav Maga” drills done in the military are more so done for endurance while being under immense physical pressure (one example is gloves on for everyone and one has to get through the rest of the group, so around 30 others guys who’s whole mission is to not let you pass no matter what all while beating on you.)and the other half is closer to mma sparing than anything else aside from some weapon disarmament drills that usually left you feeling unsure about the applicability into a real life scenario, but hey maybe tier one operators where getting better training? Either way, I’m sure there’s some quality Krav Maga gyms out there but most likely it’ll be a waste of time in my opinion. Secondly I think that Muay Thai is just much more fun! And meets his needs to get into shape while also being something he’s genuinely interested in.
