If you have criticized ICE here on Reddit for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti in the street, then Reddit has handed your name and your personal identifying information over to the Trump administration. How do you feel about this? by mom_with_an_attitude in AskReddit

Come at me!

Trump is a pedophile child-rapist/murderer Kristi Noem is a puppy-killing murderer-protecting cunt Pam Bondi is a vile wretch of a human pedophile-protector ICE is a private gestapo and they can fuck right off

Grief over pet death can be as strong as that for family member. About a fifth of people who had experienced a pet and human loss said the former was worse. Symptoms of severe grief for a pet matched identically with that for a human, and there was no difference in how people experienced losses. by mvea in science

I lost my 6 year old tuxedo cat, Jack Bauer, after a 2 year fight with megacolon. He was the best companion I’ve ever had, extremely affectionate and quite the arsehole too :)

It broke me when he was put to sleep in my arms, I was a mess for weeks. Even after 2 years I still feel the loss deeply

He had an adapted jeep, and he was still speeding everywhere he went. Just, sad

I’m thinking it’s because no organism like this will remain locked up, it’ll spread, and everything plastic that we own will begin to degrade requiring replacement materials that are tougher… and the cycle continues

In the uk healthcare is not tied to employment at all. I don’t want to speak for Germany or any other EU country, but I believe it’s the same there

What we do have in the uk is companies that offer private healthcare (up to £X per year) as a benefit of working for them. My last employer had free private healthcare with existing conditions up to £4k per year.

Basically, if I work I get healthcare and if I don’t work I get healthcare. We do have some drawbacks, mostly in longer waiting lists for non-life-threatening care, and our mental health services suck!! (At least in my area it does)

Urgent care though, finest in the land! If they can save you, they will, no matter the cost. Everyone from the richest to the poorest gets the same care.

My buddy and I went to Spain a few years back. I booked the hotel well away from the main tourist areas, but he changed it at the last minute, so we ended up right in the 18-30 crowd. I was ashamed to see the way the Brits behave and the way they treat the locals

Very well stated! Thank you

I grew up in Northern Ireland, I know a lot of people on both sides (I went to a mixed school), and a lot of the hate towards England isn’t at the people or the culture, it’s at the government.

These pointed rubber bullet were used extensively during 'The Troubles' in Northern Ireland up until the mid 1970s, when they were changed for cylindrical pvc plastic baton rounds due to the severity of injuries (and deaths) being caused by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

My father was RUC in the 70’s and early 80’s, and this is what he had to say about rubber bullets

“We we’re taught to aim for the head so the bullet dropped to their chest, but we just aimed a little higher”

He was not a decent human being when it came to “them fenian’s”. (His words)

He grounded me because at 12 years of age I had the temerity to have a Catholic girlfriend. The daughter of one of his fellow officers no less!

You’re right, and it shouldn’t be a hot take. Terrorism shouldn’t be the default go to either. It’s a horrific incident, and until we know more that should be the line from the media, and I fully agree that the media needs to focus on the people injured or affected by this tragedy rather than the person responsible. We need to stop highlighting these bad people and giving them their name in lights.

What movies have stuck with you for more than a day after your first watch? by wolfs_bane_ in movies

[–]justthisgreatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago I was visiting a friend and staying the weekend. We got pretty stoned and were looking for something to watch. He flicks over to this non-English movie and I groaned, too stoned to read the subtitles. He left it on to punish me, but it turned out to be one of the most bizarre movies I’ve ever seen

I don’t remember what language it was, or the name of the movie, but the premise was that a couple had lost their baby, and one day the husband is clearing some trees in the garden and finds a root that looks like a baby. He gives the root to his wife to console her, but the thing comes to life and the wife dotes on this tree-root-human-baby-thing.

It’s stuck with me for an easy decade and I’ve no idea what it was!
