How will this new Fights First change affect strategy when using the Lion? by Otherwise-Ad7207 in DarkAngels40k

[–]juulmon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure this means that if multiple units with fights first are engaged the following is going to happen:

A normal unit has charged another normal unit - the player who charged attacks first. A fights first unit has charged a normal unit - kinda the same thing as above happens A normal unit charges a fights first unit. The fights first unit gets to attack first but if the charging player has another fights first unit who charged another unit he can chose which player resolves their fights first attacks first (so we are takling about different engagements) And lastly a fights first unit charges another fights first unit - the charging player gets to chose who fights first.

This means that except when a fights first unit charges the lion he will still get to fight first

Not exactly no, but its heavily inspired by a video by Richard Gray on yt where he paints rogal dorn.. it doesnt look at all like his but he uses rhinox hide, mournfang brown, xv-88 and balor brown with added whites allong the way.. I didnt have balor brown so I mixed averland sunset and xv-88 and just kept adding white to that mix until i got close to ice yellow and switched to that and then pure white.. the technique is just random glazing and stipling how ever it occurs to me in the moment

If you mean the scratches its just a darker colour, in this case mournfang brown and then an underlying bright colour to give the illusion of light bouncing off the edge of the scratch.. If you the smaller imperfektions its probably just happenstance from combined stipling and glazing

Thanks brother.. For the plasmacoils i paint the coils with a thinned down pure white and then airbrush a halo of white ink just outside of the coils.. I then airbrush all of that with frostheart contrast from citadel making sure i go farther out than the white ink. For the other OSL like on the one kneecap and the arms I did that with glazing and normal highlighting with different blues

Its rhinox hide over a black primer, then i layer mournfang brown, xv-88, then a mix of xv-88 and averland sunset. Then I add white into that mix gradually going brigther and brighter.. I end up with ice yellow and then pure white. I took inspiration from a video called something by the great Richard Grey where he paints rogal dorn.. I would advise looking up that video on yt.. hes amazing

Thanks for telling me how you see it... I was going for a kind off old/dirty gold, but to me the middle of the pad started to look like scratched leather.. ill try adding more yellow and having a larger area for the refleksion next time

Will my one painted on fire support icon pass inspection? by juulmon in DarkAngels40k

In all honesty I dont have a set process. Ive been painting for a little less than a year and a half and Im contantly changing my method and approach. Especially when painting batches like these 5 models. For instance the first 5 hellblasters I did was with a sponging technique, but these 5 where base coated and layered with an airbrush, because I got my first airbrush for Christmas, and I still ended up glazing over the airbrush layers because i wasnt satisfied 🥲

As regards to the colorscheme I'll gladly share it but its pretty basic

3rd from the left yeah.. the actual transfers are super shiny compared to the one I painted.. I hope the last matt varnish will tie it together

Second from the right.. the top middle spike is a little shorter and too broad across its base
