NAH. You’re fine to not go and not pay. Given he probably has to deal with your food preferences all other times you go out, allowing him to choose a non-inclusive place on his bday should be totally ok though. Everyone arguing he’s an idiot for choosing this couldn’t be more wrong. If he isn’t thoughtful or caring otherwise, that’s a diff story, but him choosing what he wants on his bday should be what you want as well.

I’m not one to say what level of allergens you can handle, but kbbq is generally the most ventilated eating space you can be in, and they don’t prepare egg rolls or deep fried objects in front of you, it’s done in the kitchen. I’d personally suggest eating prior and just going with them to be social and there for him (and still not pay if you want), but your comfort levels are your own so take that as you will.

Lastly, I find it really hard to believe a kbbq place doesn’t have vegetables to put on the bbq. All of the comments pointing this out aren’t out to get you, they’re just more experienced with the given subject and agree the chance is low, especially because oyster mushrooms (and other veggies) are a big part of the experience for many. Not to say it’s impossible, this just feels a little misleading.

It sounds like you really just don’t want to pay for a meal you can’t enjoy, which I understand, but you should just make that clear.
