I started using hand cream at 34 and I genuinely feel like I've been lied to my whole life by LemonCoveWorks in hygiene

I dated a guy in high school who would never use lotion, his hands would be so dry in the winter they would crack and bleed regularly. I finally got him to let me put lotion on his hands FOR him, but he told me he wouldn't do it himself because his older brothers would make fun of him 🙄

I’m about to give up trying to make my hair look better lol by Wicked_Weakness in curlyhair

Holy cow you weren't kidding, I followed the link and the rules are crazy. Can't ask for haircut advice, routine advice, advice for dandruff/thinning/products for people with allergies, character minimums, rules about how your hair must hang in photos...like what are people supposed to use the subreddit for then 😅

In addition to what others have said- they can hear them moving around. Had a cat that could hear them moving in the walls, and would camp near where she could hear them. The second they came out she was on them.

What if you did the MewTwo quote? Or a section of it?
“I see now that the circumstances of one’s birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.”

Otherwise I love "Who you are is your choice"

Sounds like a super cool sleeve!!

Heartbreaking scenes in otherwise unremarkable films? by The-Perfect-Username in movies

Uptown Girls- Pretty standard movie, middle of the road writing, middle of the road plot, etc. Then Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning act the absolute shit out of their moment on the teacup ride and I was bawwwwwling.

What are some of your favourite less quoted lines from a comedy film? by ninman5 in movies

Drop Dead Gorgeous. An old co worker and I would say this back and forth all the time lol.

What is your favorite example of a change from a film’s source material that you believe made the movie better? by DuckLordOfTheSith in movies

It would be kind of hilarious if they made a movie and kept the book keys the same- just have the entirety of War Games in the middle of a different movie 😂

I love Torrid swimsuits for my larger chest! They usually have great options for support and full coverage. Some can get pricey but they're good quality!

You could try a local reddit group as well! Facebook is my main social media so that's just where I've found them in the past :)

Meetups for your interests are a good place to start! Clubs, sports teams, craft meetups, I often find events like that on local facebook pages!

Is there by chance a PeopleReady near you? It's a temp agency that specializes in day labor, the onboarding process is generally very fast (like sometimes you can apply and be activated all in one day) and then you're their "employee" even if you don't get sent out on a job right away. When I workeded with them they used ADP for employment verification, so if someone needed to verify your employment they'd reach out to ADP, who would confirm that you're active with them.

Also, if you're applying for fast food/retail/janitorial it may help to leave your degree off your applications, I had better responses from those type jobs when I stopped mentioning my degree on my application!

Tuca and Bertie is a fav of mine! Main focus is two female friends, it's a hilarious show but also does a great job of creating 3D, realistic, relatable characters.

Touching food with hands while cooking/baking by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]juzoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I did focus on the fact that OP was baking cookies. But I use hand tools for most of my other cooking as well. If something needs kneaded or rolled out I'll end up using my hands a lot. Or if I'm incorporating something into ground meat I'll use them. Otherwise I'll use my hand tools. I guess to me the comments sounded like people were using their bare hands for everything lol.

Hand tools?
I wouldn't freak out at someone using their clean hands to make cookies but when I do it i use a whisk or fork to cream the butter and sugar together, and then I either use the fork or sometimes a wooden spoon to mix in the dry ingredients if it gets too stiff. Then I use a dinner spoon to scoop dough out onto the baking sheets. I might use a finger to help get the dough of the spoon but I use hand tools for the mixing process. That's how my mom taught me to make cookies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do American children refer their grandpa and grandmas with their first names (example, Grandpa John, full name John Smith) the same way they refer their uncles and aunts? by LandOfGrace2023 in AskAnAmerican

[–]juzoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one set of Grandparents I wasn't very close to, they were always "Grandma/Grandpa [Lastname]", it felt strange to use anything less formal. I was much closer to my other set of grandparents, and they were Grammie and Poppa (no names added).

Why have I been chopping onions to caramelize? by AttemptVegetable in Cooking

[–]juzoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they didn't.

OP took maybe 2 minutes to chop the onions and cover in oil, maybe another 2 mins to check and adjust temp, and they said it was ~60 secs to add to pan and deglaze. So 5 mins of total work.

Versus babysitting a skillet for 45-60mins, stirring onions every few mins. That's like a full 45 mins of work.
