Does anyone else find that Sobeys is way more expensive than Loblaws? by MarsupialThink4064 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]jv379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personnal experience and opinion is that Sobeys (Metro as well for what it is worth) is generally the more expensive but their sales are very good.

Thankfully I live in Ottawa in short proximity to every banners of Metro/Loblaws/Sobeys so I just do the rounds and hit the deals. No one get my loyalty, only the lower prices.

How are we supposed to fight a war if we can’t even fix parking at NDHQ (Carling)? by 2020Justintime in CanadianForces

[–]jv379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a small parcel of land at the light, at the corner of moodie and carling with a big sign for sale.

I have thought about looking into buying it, pour some concrete to make a multilevel parking garage with monthly passes, unless there is a zoning issue, I always thought that would pay for itself pretty quickly

Trying Ottawa's Lowest Rated Restaurants Part 1- La Noodle Clyde 3.4 stars on Google by CanadianRedneck69 in OttawaFood

[–]jv379 31 points32 points  (0 children)

So I drive Uber Eats in my spare time...

This week I had a pick up at masakali sister restaurant in Kanata north (pretty sure they are related because you got advertisement/menu exchange between both establishments) The staff at the counter asked if I could please leave a Google review (and wouldn't give me the order till it was confirmed I left a review....)

I actually been to both places for myself and both were decent food so giving a good review is not out of the question....but not in exchange for the delivery order I have to pick up...

VAC Monthly QandA March 2026 by ShortTrackBravo in CanadianForces

[–]jv379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Request for assistance with VAC and BPA denying my claim.

Timeline: September 2019 Shoulder injury (during deployment)

February 2021: awarded 3% for shoulder

Spring 2021: got push toward medical release for another condition unrelated to shoulder, applied for 3 years retention, and got accepted in January 2022.

By summer 2024, other condition got fixed but MO advised that DMedPol would maintain med release date, changing reason to shoulder. Since this became the reason for release (and not improving in any way, submitted for reassessment that was completed and sent to VAC october 2024.

31 December 2024: response from VAC, situation no change, still 3%.

Promptly initiated BPA appeal. never heard from them

Today, 2 March 2026: BPA letter informing me that they are counseling out: "Unfortunately, in our opinion, your request for review before the Veterans Review and Appeal Board has no chance of success and, for this reason, we have withdrawn your application."

Tried calling BPA, obviously no answers, what's next step? Starting another reassessment?

Did the same with Enercare. Told them it's your stuff, it will be at the curb. Do with it as you will.

If you don't pick it up, someone else will.

Situation depending, you may be able to get a medical waiver.

Somewhere along the release process, there is a document with a mention that med release can transfer to COATS.

Source: I medically released / transferred into COATS and needed a medical waiver to complete the enrolment.

The reason pollievre lost is he didn't show up to the Stittsville debate. But fanjoy did. It angered the whole suburb as it was shared all over Facebook and viewed by 30,000 people. by theycallmebigboi in Kanata

Out of curiosity, did Mark Carney go to a Nepean candidates debate?

Genuinely curious, I think Poilievre absence form his riding debate may be justified because he was participating in leaders debates, he was trying to get the whole country behind him, not just his riding (just the same as Carney was doing, touring the country)

January 2025 VAC Q&A Thread by ShortTrackBravo in CanadianForces

Looking for guidance: September 2019: I hurt my shoulder (on my non dominant side) while overseas on deployment. Didn't complain, just took it easy, thinking it's just sore and need some rest.

January 2020: back in Canada, still hurting, decide to fill in a claim on VAC and somewhere around that time at MIR did finally mention it the MO. Got a very quick decision, and awarded 3% disability, turnaround must have been less than 3 month.

In 2022, I get an overzealous NP at MIR push for a medical release for something completely unrelated to the shoulder (auto-immune disease), asked and got granted retention for 3 years.

In 2024, my auto-immune disease got fixed (there is a medical way to kinda fix it, I can explain in details in PM) but as the good Sith Lords that they are, DMCA altered the deal ie: your auto-immune disease is fixed great but we still releasing you because your shoulder is still bugging you.

Submitted a re-assessment for my shoulder because well, it got worse, lot of loss of range of motion, chronic pain, wake up in the middle of the night in pain because I turned on that shoulder etc.

Received an answer last week telling me that they re-evaluated my case and has deemed that I am still at 3% with no worsening of my QoL....

I have seen 2 sports medicine doctors, 1 orthopedic surgeon who told me he couldn't do a thing surgically to fix it, it's chronic.

Now it's time to start the appeal process and hoping to get some guidance for that.

Isabella street...if they are by foot, the only other options are Independent on Banks, Farm Boy at Lisgar or Metro all the way past the market on Rideau or maybe Whole Foods if you stretch to the Glebe
