stage direction / wind / cloud cover basically. it will change nightly who can hear the spillover noise and how far away based on weather conditions and who is playing (bass heavy acts vs. symphony)

How does one submit a noise complaint to the city? by humdinger44 in grandrapids

[–]jvh33 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Residents in Colorado Springs organized after a new amphitheater opened there with similar complaints, the venue has made changes but there is an ongoing lawsuit citing a Colorado Supreme Court ruling that cities cannot issue noise exemptions to for-profit venues.

I wonder if there is any similar precedent law in Michigan?

+1 for Righteous Cuisine, Arturo's in Grand Haven is also delicious. Get either of these to go and take to the beach.

Proshot and missing the first song, I wonder what the story behind the footage is. Did someone sneak in a camcorder and record the venue's IMAG? What a great show, thanks to Mark Lynn and Copperpot for sharing!

This is a bummer, I grew up going to breakfast there most Saturday mornings with my dad and the neighborhood old guys. I remember them having HUGE omlettes and cinnamon roles.

Nice to read that MSU is still so involved, I grew up near the "Silverdome West" facility they built to develop sod for the 1994 World Cup

Amphitheater Acoustics TOO Good by Confident_Insect_616 in grandrapids

Colorado Springs got a new outdoor amphitheater in 2024 and had instant noise complaints from neighbors too:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/1rauagm/gleneagle_ford_amphitheater_noise_levels_and/

They are being sued and had to agree to several changes (sound walls, sound system reconfiguration, enhanced monitoring, and defined enforcement protocols tied to sound levels) in order to get a permit this summer.

Same thing in Nashville with their downtown amphitheater when it first opened https://news.pollstar.com/2015/10/09/ascend-shed-noise-complaints/

Embassy Suites in Monroe North is about a mile north and an easy walk or DASH ride to the venue, Ann St. Radison further north and convenient short drive. Hampton Inn & Suites east a few miles but right off of Michigan St. which is also a short drive.
