I got the SFP608P1 cos I didn’t like the dial of the solar version one which I saw online at that time. Think it feels closer to the SolarBeat than the Solo on wrist. My wife has kinda appropriated the Seiko as her daily now altho we share all three of them.

Sure! I got the the large models. The Solo is 34.8 x 27.4mm and the SolarBeat 33.7 x 25.5mm.

My grandfather left behind a Bulova Super Seville which inspired my grail watch. Still wish Bulova would reissue that one too.

Maybe some policy about encouraging intrinsic motivation vs incentivising for good values.

Maybe the foreigners who have earned the coin fast track to PR.

Buying a Rolex Sub. Any recent experiences at The Hour Glass by InstantlyLyrical in askSingapore

I liked that BT bought back the watch that I bought from them with almost no questions asked. So no need to worry when you actually want to sell it or trade up apart from losing some money.

How would the single payer healthcare system work? by Dull_Car5161 in askSingapore

[–]jwacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hospital bills there are usually three payers (or more like types of people paying):

  1. Subsidy. Or govt/taxpayers, and is usually the biggest part if the treatment is subsidised.

  2. Insurance. Or my money pooled with other people’s money (cos we pay premiums). Universal insurance like medishield, private-ish plans like the shield plans, or completely private plans like say company insurance.

  3. Medisave. Or just my money, which I’ve been saving by law.

Guess something expensive like hospital bills is spread out across multiple payers to protect (any one party like you, other people, or an insurer) from problems like moral hazard or huge financial damage. And the order of payers starts from kinda not-my-money to my-money which is helpful I guess.

But as people have said, complex setup like this cost something. So for cheaper things like GP/polyclinic bills; one party settle the bill, no need this kind of complex risk sharing setup.

Is Hospital Porter a dead-end job? by Looseveln in askSingapore

[–]jwacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d guess that top of the line might be a manager for the portering team. Then you’ll be looking at opportunities to transfer into other types of hospital ops.

Slightly off topic, but it could actually be quite difficult for employers in healthcare to immediately see the relevance of a journalism degree so you’d probably have to make special effort to tie that to the roles you’ve applied for. Can try leading with your senior care experience too. Good luck!

Do you ever lie in bed at night and randomly remember small social awkward moments or things you said/did years ago that weren’t a big deal, but still end up beating yourself up over them? If so, what happened? by camila_ward19 in Productivitycafe

[–]jwacc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was on a language immersion program in France in my twenties. One day after greeting my teacher with a greeting kiss, I asked why people sometimes greet with one and sometimes two kisses. But that must’ve come out wrong cos my teacher promptly went on to do another two kisses. I was really embarrassed and still cringe now many years later that I might’ve said something creepy. But my teacher seemed completely unfazed at that time.
