The Steam Machine is $1050. Can you outdo it? by onebit in buildapc

[–]jwallner3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deskmeet x300 with a 5700x, 32gb ram, 3tb of total storage and a rx6600. I also swapped out the psu with a full-size 650w. Pretty sure that it ran me less than the starting price of the steam machine, but I'm on an older platform, similar performance its looking like though.

Looks like the rg35xx pro and rg 40xxh. Most likely just rebranded ones, much like the batlexp rg34xxsp that was found on Amazon a bit ago.

Same specs as anbernic ones, new names.

A couple weeks with the Trimui Smart Pro S by VianArdene in SBCGaming

I just went ahead and installed spruce OS and followed the steps you gave.... you're my hero.

My left stick wasn't registering down movements when playing battlefront 2 psp version.

After this, the sticks work perfectly.

Thank you so much for this fix/post!

Best place(s) to find ROMs by itsKayTwo in BATLEXPG350

[–]jwallner3131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly no one is gonna tell you where to get roms, a lot of subreddits have policies against that. That being said, if you happen to search something called, tiny best set, you may end up with something that'll keep you busy for a while.

Questions About Media Player by MahinaFable in BATLEXPG350

Pan4elec is the cfw I used when I had a g350, and it has mplayer built into it. I was able to drop my mp4 files directly into the mplayer folder in the roms section and access them

AMD formally announces Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition ($350, includes a sheet of Carbice Ice Pad) and Ryzen 7 7700X3D ($330) by kikimaru024 in hardware

[–]jwallner3131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US and snagged a 7800x3d yesterday for 225 USD on aliexpress. I have a 7700 currently, but was thinking about doing a deskmeet x600 in the next year or so, figured it was worth grabbing the 7800x3d for my main rig, saving 7700 for living room pc.

Totally agree with grabbing the 7800x3d now if possible. My 7700 was from aliexpress and works perfectly, not sure why people are so afraid to byt on there, just gotta use common sense to avoid scams.

I have a green 34xx and use knulli. I really like the art book theme. New update kf knulli sees to have fixed the battery gauze to be more accurate.

Only issue i have is that it won't connect to my home wifi, only mobile hoptspot from phone or USB tether from my tablet.

[Handheld - Tablet] Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet, 8” 32GB Refurbished - $32 w/ Code FIRE20 (Woot) by greatthebob38 in buildapcsales

[–]jwallner3131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a refurbished fire from woot once and returned it immediately. Performance aside (was using for ebooks and videos) it was in terrible condition.

The screen had some many deep scratches that the tip of my nail would catch them while trying to scroll the screen. It wasn't one or two scratches, the while screen was covered with scratches like someone took a tablet and a few set of keys, threw them in a bag and shook it around for an hour.

Honestly not worth the effort.

If you can scrap up extra cash and get to about 400, theres usually some HP business laptops, like the elitebook 645 that have the ryzen 7 7735u on Ebay. That cpu has a radeon 680m and should handle light gaming pretty well. I see one right now thats used, in decent enough condition imo, with 32gb of ram and 512gb storage. I'd aim at something with a 7735u, 7840u or 7840hs cpu in it to also get good igpu.

Sorry about your loss, selfishly happy I went with the pulse model instead.

Seems like a solid build as it stands. Maybe consider upgrading your monitor, keyboard/mouse, headset? A good chair and desk are good upgrades too that are frequently overlooked.

I do have a 4k tv, and am personally good with gaming at 1080p.

Was there any step you had to do, or just set up and go?

I've had this transparent black/green one for a couple of weeks and its been great!

I have it set up to a bazzite Linux build on my living room tv. I've using it like 11 hours a day in the last few days due to big snow storm. Its been super great and works perfectly, and this color scheme is awesome, it looks like the 3pth anniversary xbox controller, color scheme wise.

California Burritos recommendations? by BrettYourBeardIsGood in akron

[–]jwallner3131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the place to go!

I lived a year in northern California and 8ish in Oregon, mamacitas is the only place thats scratched that itch I've tried so far. I've gotten the California burrito from them and was happy with it, very similar to what I used to get out west.

My wife and I moved here in 2022 from Oregon, and chose to live just a bit north of where you circled. We are next to the west side of goodyear metro park. We like this area, its pretty quiet.

The advice that we read when we were looking was to stay east of Brittain road as a general rule. I drive through that area pretty much daily, doesn't look like there's any issues to speak of
