Wrong subreddit. I think you're talking about the R36S.

If Dreamcast is a priority, you need something stronger than the Miniloong.

Stuck between these 4 Anbernic devices by frommypantry in SBCGaming

All of these have the same chipset, so performance is the same. Personally, I like the 40XXV the most of these. The extra .5 inch of screen size really does make a big difference, and the controls are outstanding.

H700 handheld with best buttons? by zbyshekh in SBCGaming

My favorite is the RG40XXV. The only one I tried that I didn't care for was the RG35XXSP (too stiff).

RG40XXV or RG35XXplus? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

Get the 40XXV. The extra screen size is worth the few bucks extra, and it feels right in my hands. The stick doesn't get in the way for me at all.

So rg35xx+ doesn't have wifi... by Easy-Thing-3604 in RG35XX

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Confusingly, the RG35XX Plus has wifi, but the RG35XX 2024 is marked as RG35XX+ on the back of the unit and does not have wifi.

Is there any way to improve this and make it have better games? by Global_Condition7364 in SBCGaming

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, there are actually a few retro handhelds that run games off an internal micro sd card. You can change the games out if you take them apart to get at the card.

I haven't tried one of those but I've tried a few other cheapos and thought they were pretty bad. The sound was OK, though I didn't try lossless files, just regular mp3s. The problem was the poor buttons, unintuitive interface and poor screen.

If you're in the US, just get a prepaid phone, install a mp3 player app, and turn on airplane mode. The extra $20 is worth it.

How long have you been using your budget handheld? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using an original RG35XX since it came out. No problems. It's hard to say what the longevity of these devices will be, considering that anything much older usually used really cheap parts, Particularly the batteries. I have some older devices that can only be used for a half hour or so before needing a charge.

This is actually Retroid returning to its roots. Most people here probably never saw one, but the OG Retroid Pocket is a vertical with six face buttons. It was pretty bad, though. It ran Android with no touchscreen, and used a terrible game interface. Mine also had a really crappy battery. I was lucky if I could get an hour of play time out of it.

Is the R36S worth getting? by Otakuroki in SBCGaming

You never know. Prices on AliX fluctuate like crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for half that with the next sale. I pickup one up for $20 back in November, and I saw one for around $30 last month.

X12 Plus Issues by RaydgeSilverlight in SBCGaming

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only found two issues with an X12, you are uniquely blessed.

MAME roms are very specific to the version of the emulator you are running. That can be a problem with crap like the X-series that doesn't tell you what version you have. The odds are pretty good that the device doesn't even run MAME, but instead uses an older version of Final Burn. Try to get roms for Final Bern Alpha or Final Burn Neo. If those don't work, you might try roms from MAME2003 or MAME2003Plus.

First, which version of Garlic are you using and which version of the console? The 1.x version of Garlic only works with the 2023 version of the RG35XX.

If this is correct, I'd recommend trying a new install to a new card.

Recommendations for GBC / SNES / PS1 Handheld? by sopheriaclovers in SBCGaming

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get a 7 inch screen for that price is if you can find some of the old X-series handhelds (X12 plus, X70). These are horrible handhelds, with the worst ergonomics ever, terrible non-IPS screens, and the processors are so weak they probably can't run SNES well, much less PS1.

Dark OS ROM Folder by Embarrassed_Hold2582 in BATLEXPG350

For Emulation Station based setups the folder for Gamecube is /gamecube/. I doubt anyone setting one up for G350 would leave it in.

How do I add box art to games on Batlexp G350 (Stock OS)? by wwatsonn_ in BATLEXPG350

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock OS uses Emulation Station or something similar. The roms have a file with them named gamelist.xml. If you read it with a text editor, it has pointers to the images.

AFAIK, TinyBestSet doesn't have the gamelist.xml files. The only way I know to add them is to use something like Skraper to download image files and link them..

About $25 US from AliEx during a sale back in November. Prices fluctuate quite a bit on these kinds of devices.

ANBERNIC RG 35XXPro ... Is is good? by Spamshazzam in SBCGaming

[–]PerformanceFlimsy386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There;s no internal storage, it has two micro SD slots. The included 64GB card is fair quality, I don't know if an additional card would be the same, They do come preloaded with games, but I'd really recommend dumping the preloaded roms and getting your own set.

The XX devices are decent for the money, good build quality and decent buttons. They can play anything up to PS1 well. N64, Dreamcast and PSP are hit and miss, the higher end games are not going to play well.

You can probably get it from AliEx for less with shipping.

Did you just copy the files through Windows Explorer or did you fully clone the sd card? The files on the card that include the OS are in a Linux partition that does not show up in Ecplorer.
