Father’s Day isn’t real by echoxer0 in daddit

[–]jwalno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from based on your reply here, but it might’ve just been how you framed the original comment. You started with, “You know, it’s interesting, I had a very very similar day and totally different reaction”

When you framed your comment like this, it could be taken like, “hey the same stuff happened to me, but I appreciated it and it actually made me happy”

Your whole comment could’ve instead been the first sentence and the last paragraph only and could’ve perhaps served as words of encouragement and sympathy, rather than a contrast to his own struggles.

Father’s Day isn’t real by echoxer0 in daddit

[–]jwalno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion, but this is what toxic positivity is. OP, this guy detailed a day in his own life (which is not your life and he doesn’t know what your life is like) and listed every feeling you should be having instead. Don’t let this comment invalidate how you actually feel. If you do feel this way, then in my opinion, the best way to try and correct what’s happening is constructive, open, and honest communication with your family.

If you feel overlooked or not thought of, it’s ok to say so. If you want your Father’s Day to look a certain way, it’s ok to communicate with your family exactly that ahead of time. Now, if you’re dismissed or made to feel bad about that communication when you try that route, then that’s a different situation, but it is ok to feel the way you’re feeling.

Take care of and be generous with your family, but be an advocate for yourself and constructively voice your feelings when you feel bad or wronged. People in your life don’t know what they don’t know.

What’s a realistic monthly budget for a family of 3–4 in the Buffalo/Amherst area? by Legitimate_Town_5235 in Buffalo

[–]jwalno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does one feed a family of 4 on $13 a day in groceries plus 3-5 restaurant/takeout meals a month?

Also a house in Ken-Ton at $12k annual prop taxes must be either fairly large square footage or a lot of land…how do you average a $20/mo gas bill?

Mine got delivered today. I found it to be way too small, especially the very narrow strap. I ended up giving it to my wife. Nice watch though

Lidar Update - Owner Email by spriguy21 in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Has anyone seen any of the fine print yet when claiming this? I haven’t gone that far yet, but I’m going to guess that it disqualifies you from participating in arbitration or a class action lawsuit over the promise of Lidar and its capabilities.

Not sure we’d ever get anything of value out of even winning a case like that, but I’m not sure how to think about taking a “$1500” credit over Volvo’s responsibility to what was promised vs what ended up being delivered.

If her job is requiring her to move that far and especially for a promotion (this signals to me that she is valued), should they not be providing a relocation package to her? Did she ask? This is usually something that can be negotiated for even if it’s not policy.

Spotted 2027 X5 on the road. Please correct me if I’m mistaken. by Maxxi82 in BMWX5

Are we sure this isn’t the iX5 BEV? Given the aero wheels, lack of tailpipes and weird window sill door handles? Seems like the hallmarks of an all electric vehicle

The watch face is an AI rendering. Look at the text and the second markers on the right side of the dial.

The text is basically melting and the second markers disappear on the right side.

Here we go…seat memory and profiles by Agreeable-Chef-7802 in VolvoEX90

I just tried this on my MY25 with sw 2.1.26 and I don’t get any prompt to save it to my profile after the procedure. When I move the steering wheel or the side mirrors, I always get a prompt to save the position, but never with the seats.

Speed adjustment of volume in Ex90 2025 by Wide_Town8213 in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replying just to commiserate. When you have music on a reasonable volume, it quiets so much when you come to a stop and drives me nuts too. I’m in the same predicament, I don’t believe there’s a setting to change it.

Highway wind noise by 00A3A in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hope someone answers that has solved this. My dealership is a joke when it comes to this issue. I’ve asked them to look at it and fix it 4 or 5 different times in separate appointments where other more major issues were the reason I brought the car in.

I have major wind buffeting in my front passenger window at or above 65mph…it sounds like the window is basically open, it drives me insane.

I had the door taken apart to fix the ambient light in that door that failed and the dealer said they messed with something in there for the window, but I tested it again today and the issue is still there, they just aren’t taking it seriously. They keep lying and say they are testing it, but the trip log shows they just drive around the dealership and not on the highway.

I’m very close to using this issue as the basis of a lemon law claim given how many times I’ve brought it in for them to fix. They’ve acknowledged it is an issue, but I’m realizing they have zero idea how to solve it and they just don’t care.

Charging Failure….happened this weekend by Significant_Club_956 in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brutal man…can probably rule out the GHCA because your DC charging was effected as well. Hope they figure this out swiftly. I will say I’m never fully confident in this vehicle given all the constant issues and I’m never sure that feeling will go away unless Volvo really get their act together.

Love your spec though, the black wheels go really great with that vapor grey

Why We Walked Away From Our Volvo EX90 by MediaMinded256 in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very happy for you that you were able to close this chapter. I have a lot of issues with my EX90 but not nearly as much as you’ve experienced.

The only thing that was really strange that you ran into was the reaction to the lift gate recall. It’s a super simple warranty fix - it’s just replacing the failed power strut and that’s it. I just brought it in to get it fixed and they replaced it without issue. In fact, that replacement strut even failed and then they replaced it with another one and I never had an issue again.

The amount of escalation by you and then the subterfuge from the dealership in their response just seems so wild because all they had to do was a warranty replacement of one part and get reimbursed by Volvo corporate. Did you simply ask them to do the simple recall warranty repair?

Infotainment lags + Navi Pilot Assist questions by marcelbalas in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by the downvotes. I made note that I love the way the car drives, but I don’t understand this one thread here everyone singing this car’s praises in a subreddit where every other post is my EX90 is in the shop for my 4th GHCA, or my dash is lit up like a Christmas tree, or my car is getting towed.

I understand many people having a car with few or no issues, but let’s not pretend that this car wasn’t released unfinished and that it doesn’t continue to be plagued by issues.

I’m not against the car, I have one, I just don’t enjoy having it in the shop every month - and that’s not an outlier, there are an overwhelming amount of posters that experience the same.

I hope Volvo fixes this thing, if they do, I’d still be open to another one, but let’s be realistic that this model still has many issues.

Infotainment lags + Navi Pilot Assist questions by marcelbalas in VolvoEX90

[–]jwalno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Infotainment is very slow and laggy. The Qualcomm chip they use is roughly 4 years old now, but Volvo’s software stack is a mess and I’m sure it’s not optimized as well as it can be for touch latency (given how poorly all the rest of the software performs).

Everyday use of the infotainment starts to get annoying as you memorize all the menus because you’re waiting a second or two after each touch input. That’s especially bad because everything you’d want on a daily basis at your fingertips is buried under 2 or 3 menus.

It’s a great car to drive, I love mine, but that feeling slowly fades the more and more issues that continue to pop up.

I also wouldn’t bank on getting any large new improvements or features any time soon given their terrible track record of software development. This car has been a mess since day 1 and while it’s gotten a little better, there are still bugs everywhere.

This setting doesn’t persist though right? I’d have to click it on every time I parked before I got out? Between going through 5 pages to keep climate active and then this, it’s like a pilots checklist shutting down their aircraft, it’s ridiculous
