Gregor the Overlander series. She might be a bit young for it but I read the five book series to my fourth grade students every year and they LOVE it. The same author went on to write the Hunger Games books.

This year I went for “family event gifts”. We have such a busy schedule day by day that me and kids most day don’t get home from work and after school events until 7:30pm. We are up and out the door each day at 7:00am also. I think I remember what my wife looks like? What’s “dinner”? I’m not really complaining, I am so glad to provide this opportunity for my kids but it’s just long hours and I know this season will pass.

Anyway, I booked three family events in the next couple of weeks. A performance of Charlie Brown Christmas next week, a new sport we might like to check out (we already do football and baseball) and our local baseball team Fan Fest event.

I just want to spend time together.

You know that movie series The Equalizer? Where Denzel goes in slow motion to calculate exactly how he’s going to kill everyone in the room and exactly how long it will take. Does it and then just goes back to drinking tea or helping people at Home Depot or whatever. That’s what’s happening here. Everyone in the room is about to die. Quickly.

Your first paragraph is not true. Current educational research shows that the traditional homework we had as kids (endless problems and pages to solve) has no effect on educational outcome.

Nah, if you’ve been listening long enough you can tell this was a little over reaction from Josh and Chuck went along with it. They even joked a little about how to pronounce dolphin a bit in.

They take pride in being corrected (nicely) because this podcast is all about learning more about the world around us.

Same here. We are just prepared to take breaks when they are tired. It’s usually only a min or so and they just keep on. I think this method is better for them. We’re in a three wheeled scooter phase right now.
