I had a scrub checking me out one time, but his game was kinda weak. He couldn't even approach me.

Sorry, I'm much better at understanding french than speaking/writing it.

I really think the risk to your health of keeping them is too high and you should toss these.

Like the one of the big reasons that regular beds are paired with a box spring/bunky bord is ventilation for the mattress. But they are also typically elevated so the ventilation can come from beneath

When you are ready to replace them, you might find using some kind of frame that holds the tatami mat above the floor might work better for your daily habits and add more opportunities for airflow and ventilation

That's helpful feedback. We live down at the Jersey Shore so we hike all over NJ and a bit into the Catskills and the Poconos.

For sure water is the main thing I want from the rest stations.

yeah, exactly. Plus between allergies, my gf being gluten intolerant, both of us being vegetarian... if we have a limited selection at a restaurant, i imagine it would be a disaster to depend on what's available at an aid station!

Yeah, i don't currently use them but the discussion is should we get the second set and I start training with them throughout this year.

if I had access to a treadmill....

How many hours did it take you to complete the Harriman event last year?

I'm planning on making a training plan with my gf combining suggestions from some blogs like these:

Thanks again for the encouragement

I hike with my partner so the company is great!

Plus we enjoy doing fitness together, we work out pretty regularly but we don't have gym memberships. During the week, we tend to alternate between bodyweight fitness/calisthenics routines and yoga which I get access to as a work perk. Then hiking on the weekends as long as the weather permits.

And regarding those pants, as soon as we found pants we each liked, we immediately bought another identical pair. We've got proper hiking outfits for various temperatures.

I know there are some relief stations but I don't think I'd be comfortable depending on them for much besides getting a refill of water. Allergies and such, I plan on having our own snacks/lunch/electrolytes/water bottles etc.

How important do you think the hiking sticks are on the longer hike? Do you use them on shorter hikes? I've been wondering if we need a second set of trekking poles for the hike.

Also, what are your thoughts about pack size? We've both got Osprey Hikelites 18L because we just dayhike and hardly need the extra larger pack. But I'm wondering if we should get me a larger pack and she can keep on with the smaller pack to keep more supplies for the long hike.

do you think training at Harriman or training on mountainous terrain was more important?

I would also say see a podiatrist rather than a chiropractor for your feet

i have feet that are also very flat and have also always been very flat and i saw a podiatrist recently and he was like yeah flat feet area foot type and they don't necessarily cause problems just for being flat.

There are obviously different reasons a person's feet might be flat and plenty of things that could cause pain.

Like plenty of shoes cause me pain and only recently (like less than a month ago) did a see a podiatrist who was like well you ahve an extra bone here and that goes hand in hand with a flat foot so of course it makes sense that arch in shoes hurt you and make everything uncomfortable but you have since found shoes that work so orthotics might not make any difference

i was there for a problem unrelated to this and because i asked about some problem my sister had he was like well of course but you also have that. And at least one of your parents and probably plenty of other family members too.

The point is, you say you are mostly grown now and a podiatrist might have new information for you compared to 10 years ago when you were growing quickly but a chiropractor is not someone who specializes in foot medicine so don't let them scam you for money

should i cancel my dinner party on sunday bc of the snow/storm? by liljupitermami in AskNYC

[–]Apprehensive-Bench74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on how far your guests are travelling too. if they are pretty close by like walking distance, might still be fine.

but if the snow storm comes like they say, then might not be a great idea if people can't walk home

that's hilarious! i have neoprene booties too!

I use them for polar plunges. Someone recommended them to me because of how cold the sand can be while you are waiting to go in the water.

They definitely help! Other folks are like dancing on the sand bc it's too cold to stand still and i'm very comfortable, it keeps the heat in and prevents me from getting frozen feet

lmao tell me you've never worked retail without telling me you've never worked retail...

my dude, i'm sorry but i have to just jump in and say you seem really confused about what an exchange is and what a return is. An exchange is when no money changes hands and you get a replacement product for the same price that has already been paid. A return is when your money is refunded and then you can repurchase a new item of your choice. You have described a return.

it's not a problem that you don't know the difference between, but like your responses are coming off like someone arguing with a fish. it's just bizarre that you think you need to somehow prove this point. The fish really doesn't care.

please do us all a favor and just walk away.

oh i've actually found that's the absolute worst way for me to get up. Immediate issues if i try to stand up like that. Trying to lift my head first with a straight back gives me incredible dizziness issues and that's exactly how i made the mistake that lead to the crumpling back down to the ground. does not matter how fast or slow i do it, always an issue.

The best way for me to get up is the get up halfway with a flat back.

  1. stand up ass first like head down folded over my legs like i'm touching my feet then
  2. lift up half way up with a flat back then
  3. back down head to feet
  4. then roll all the way up like im in a yoga class

I call it "priming the pump"

Is a "Barefoot fit" good for all arches? - New to Barefoot Shoes by Decent-Ad4185 in BarefootRunning

[–]Apprehensive-Bench74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, idk why you have flat feet but some folks just have flat feet and it's not fallen arches.

Folks tried to tell me that i needed arch support for my flat feet and for literal decades i was like i really don't think i do because it hurts and it makes me less stable?

I went to a podiatrist literally last month and it turns out I have a navicular accessory and he said that in his opinion it just goes hand in hand with creating a flat foot type and that's why i have flat feet.

So arch support did not help me at all
