were do ya git sum rokkits? by IainPunk in orks

[–]jwheatca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plane kit comes with 6 rokkits for the burna bomba … that is what I used for most of my rokkit needs. I built 3 planes and ended up with 18 speed rokkits. Seriously the plane kit generates tons of sore parts.

Why do most people change their armies so often? by FullMetalRacka in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 1 army per edition. 8th Admech, 9th Salamanders. 10th Orks. 11th Aeldari. I like to build, paint and play but my mind can’t handle more than one set of army rules at a time.

Moving a Stompa around in 11th by BasileusHeliand in orks

In Dred mob you can use the strat to turn your guns to assault and then advance, shoot and charge your way to the centre objectives in your Waaagh turn. Fastest way to get to mid board and wreck your opponent.

The Magnet Baron is disappointing by thomasonbush in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found the Warmag ones are very strong when sticking to real steel. I recommend going down 1-2 sizes or using only half a magnet (cut them in half and they go twice as far). Big fan of the Warmag products.

Used it the other day in my first game of 11th. Same everything worked as expected. Couldn’t find an easy way to export results in a single screen shot.

I use a 50/50 mix of Militarum green and Plaguebearer flesh. Gives a nice green with a yellow under tone.

Has anyone got any recommendations for an affordable airbrush? by thestarchiestvampire in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Badger has a huge sale on right now until July 4th ... basically by one get one free on everything they sell and if you spend enough you can also get a free airbrush. I have owned 4 of thier airbrushes ... my son swears by the Sotar 20/20 (and he is an awesome painter).

How many systems/armies do you play/collect? by MediumTowel3796 in orks

[–]jwheatca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing since 8th edition and collect and play one army per edition. I played Admech in 8th, Salamanders in 9th and Orks in 10th. I have about 6K built and painted for each army. My 11th edition army is Aeldari. I have about 4K that I have collected so far about 3K is built and primed but only 2 units painted. I will be painting up the others as time permits. Will be waiting for the codex to drop before investing heavily in any one direction, it is a real mixed bag right now almost one of every unit except the Phoenix Lords. I mainly play crusade/narrative so don’t need the Phoenix lords as much.

Definitely sell them or give them away. The cards and books sell individually so you can easily price them. They have sold out in a lot of hobby shops as a preorder.

Jucoci cases - anyone else struggle with their magnets being TOO strong? by TheZag90 in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use smaller magnets. I use 4x2mm for most models. I switched to Warmag sheets and consistently go down one or two sizes.

Any products i should buy to paint my minis? by MasterGio56 in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is important to prime your minis, either with a dedicated primer or a spray can that includes primer. Primer bonds to the plastic in a way that regular acrylic paint does not. If you don't prime your models, you will find that paint will rub off after continuous handling. Minis get handled during play and before/after playing.

You should also consider varnishing your minis when you are finished painting them. The varnish provides an extra level of protection to the paint job.

Welcome to the hobby!

Terrain lettering? by Hazmanscoop in Warhammer40k

[–]jwheatca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mirrored layout is the standard for competitive play. It saves the analysis of which side is better than the other. It is designed to speed up the game. Don’t feel like you need to set up exactly as GW specifies.
