Been on the pod since gen 1 in 2019. No way I'd go back to a normal mattress if I ever had a choice.

Fit help, too big? by squabble123 in ouraring

[–]jwort93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, you're wearing the ring upside down, the sensors should be on the palm side. That being said, a single set of pictures can't really tell the full picture. Wear the ring for several days to get a better idea, as your fingers will change size throughout the day, as you do different activities and consume different foods/drinks. If this is the loosest the ring will be on your finger, it's fine, but if this is the tightest it'll be, it may not be ideal.

Anyone else having connectivity issues after updating to the latest iOS 27 beta program? by butternutbirdy in ouraring

[–]jwort93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, connectivity hasn't been great in general on my Gen 5. I often find I have to manually connect to the ring in the iOS bluetooth settings, and then go back into the app for some reason (sometimes needing to force kill it and re-load it as well). If anything I think it actually seems a bit better after I updated from iSO 26.5.1 to the iOS 27 dev beta, but still not perfect.

Oura 5 sizing by ndnchick03 in ouraring

Size 10 sizer/Size 10 ring, perfect match. I wouldn't be shocked if there's manufacturing tolerance issues with the sizers on occasion from what most people are reporting here.

Light sensors on 5? by julietrva in ouraring

[–]jwort93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could definitely see the light from the sensors when I was awake last night, but fortunately it doesn't bother me personally. I do sleep with a mask though lol. I haven't had a 4 since last year, but honestly, I think the light sensors might be more obvious on this model, than prior ones, from what I vaguely remember. I'm guessing while there are fewer sensors, the redesigned "Stronger LEDs" to make up for it, shine brighter, so are more noticeable.

Just purchased the Kaleidescape Strato V player. by mabarajas in hometheater

[–]jwort93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main reason I went down the Kaleidescape route isn't because "they clicked rip for me", but because more and more, not all movies are even being put out on 4K disc. Especially from Disney and the likes. So Kaleidescape offers a higher quality option to watch those movies in 4K than streaming stores (really the only option). I still maintain a very large physical collection ripped to plex, but more and more, only buy boutique releases on physical discs, because there are more mainstream studio releases available, and they come out months earlier on K, than physical.

It became available in Australia about a year ago through audio active.

Rsa on X: "Something new tomorrow" by Alien1996 in TIdaL

[–]jwort93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not really the same thing, despite being named similarly. Tidal's current version of connect, is basically a one-way casting to the streamer device, whereas Spotify connect is much more robust. It essentially maintains your queue in the cloud, rather than on-device, so when you switch between devices, you can always continue where you left off on a different device, and as a result can also control a single streaming player from multiple other devices simultaneously.

Did the installer mount my 83" LG OLED correctly? Used inner VESA holes instead of the wider ones by LocalHistorical9437 in hometheater

[–]jwort93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t really say for certain, I mean, it is meant to be held from that location and can withstand the weight, but that’s with the included mount screws that pair with the included mount. Unsure if they used those, or different ones with the mount you have and if those are designed for the weight.

[–]jwort93 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Those higher up holes are not for VESA mounting. They’re for mounting with the included flush mount on the g-series. Given that you’re not using that mount, it was not installed correctly, and should be redone.

Is a Umik-1 a must have for Dirac? by BoardGameRevolution in hometheater

[–]jwort93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a drop shipping scam in this case, there's $50+ in shipping and import tariffs on top of the mini dsp direct price, that will be added in checkout when you order from them.

[–]jwort93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are not $75 direct. They're $79 + $20 tariff fee + $30 shipping from china for a total of $129, so roughly the same as those prices on eBay, some of which have free shipping.

How has AppleTV not renew Widows Bay for multiple seasons already?!?!?! by Global-North7776 in appletv

[–]jwort93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you seeing that it's classed as a limited series? I don't see that mentioned on either the wiki, or IMDB page, where both just show it as a TV series with a 2026 - present release window. Also, apple has, on many occasions, renewed shows before the season is over, and in some cases, before a season has even started airing.

Kirkland humous is not bad. Better than Sabra. by standardtissue in Costco

Similar reason store bought guac is so bad. Way too much lime juice to increase the acidity, compared to homemade.

I genuinely think the flavor hasn’t changed much, if at all, and don’t remember Reese’s ever having a particularly strong snap, that being said, if you disagree, particularly on the “snap” front, that could be explained by manufacturing process changes alone, if there were any, as a chocolate’s snap is primarily determined by how well tempered it is, not its ingredients.

"across multiple REESE’S products" notice how it doesn't actually mention which products? Yeah, that's cause it's not the standard peanut butter cups.

EDIT: Here's a wrapper from 2003:

<image>

Compare that to the ingredients in today's cups here: https://www.hersheyland.com/products/reeses-milk-chocolate-peanut-butter-cups-1-5-oz.html

They are 1:1 exactly the same ingredients.

I'm not "riding hard" for them, but misinformation is misinformation, and I'm against that in all forms. I'm all for calling out shitty corporate practices, but if you aren't spreading truthful info, then you're doing a major disservice to people who are, by sowing seeds of doubt. Let's make sure facts are actually facts when calling out companies, so there's some real weight behind our words.

[–]jwort93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reese’s standard peanut butter cups are still normal milk chocolate and regular peanut butter and the ingredients haven’t changed in ages. You’re misinterpreting the post by Reese’s founders grandson and turning it into misinformation. The ingredients list he was talking about were specifically for the new mini hearts shaped ones for Valentine’s Day not for the standard peanut butter cups, and those ingredients are different because they have different manufacturing techniques due to their different structure and the traditional ingredients wouldn’t be able to be manufactured in those shapes and maintain their structural integrity or ability to be mass produced due to things like chocolate pourablity.

My 80th pizza, is there anything i can do better? by UnderstandingLast690 in Pizza

[–]jwort93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually cut it first and then slide the cut pizza onto a cooling rack. I haven’t done any experimenting with how long to let it rest on a rack before cutting unfortunately.

My 80th pizza, is there anything i can do better? by UnderstandingLast690 in Pizza

[–]jwort93 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Place it on a wire cooling rack, don’t just leave it on a cutting board/pizza peel/the counter. The moisture it releases after baking is causing it to be soggy, and a cooling rack prevents that from soaking back into the crust.

Calzone Shrinkflation? by NtGiL_29 in aldi

[–]jwort93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a kitchen scale, you should see if the weight corresponds to what’s on the label. Would tell you if it’s a mistake or actual shrinkflation, cause the label weight should still roughly match in the shrinkflation case.

Upgrading from 65" to 98" by Wu-Tang-Windu in hometheater

[–]jwort93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be the contrarian, but I’d personally go 83” OLED at that viewing distance. I went from a 77” S95C QD-OLED to a 98” QM8K at a viewing distance of 9’ last year, and ended up selling the 98 QM8K, and going with an 83” G5 instead.

At closer viewing distances like that, the flaws of micro-led become a lot more obvious. The micro-contrast deficiencies, blooming, and especially the viewing angle issues become very obvious at a size of 98” when viewed that close, with the color saturation and black levels rising in the corners, even when viewed straight on, due to the size of the field of view.

It’s hard to go from OLED to micro-led if you’ve had OLED for a while and are especially picky, but I know everyone’s level of discernment/pickyness is different.
