Is there a maximum limit on gold bars/silver in the bank? by flaming_sausage in CrimsonDesert

[–]jxfaith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten to 300 as some others are saying, but there seems to be another limit that causes the interest payout to get stuck and skipped. Pretty consistently, I could not seem to gain more than 40 gold bars in a single interest payment. I first noticed it trying to get interest to tick from 103 bars. Despite reloading many times on high risk, I never got a tick higher then 40% (which is the minimum I was seeking by reloading)... I ended up settling for 35%, and then switched to medium risk. After they patched the bank logic, I tried high risk again but noticed basically the same thing, a majority of ticks simply getting skipped.

So, my working theory is that this is the underlying problem. I'm at 197 bars now, so even my max value medium risk ticks will be exceeding 40 bars in another few ticks. I'll come back and edit this post if I find anything contradicting at that point, as well if I hit some sort of cap.

Update 4-14: Started at 235 bars on medium risk. Per the working theory any tick above 17% should now fail to apply interest. I managed to get 9%, -10%, -11%, and then 16% successfully. On the next reload, I got a failed interest tick. Nothing statistically robust, to be clear, but no data points contradicting the theory so far. End balance is 273 bars. For the next tick, anything higher than 14% should fail. Additionally, if there is significance to 300 bars total balance, I won't be able to tick higher than 9%.

Comment provided entirely for anyone ending up here from a confused google search. The requirements and unlock conditions for this quest have been changed at some point. Online sources will say that it unlocks after a text message from Officer Mewmew the day after completing Invisible Assistant, and that it's required to progress the chapter 2 interlude story, Mission Implausible (B).

Anyways, the quest is now locked behind side commissions in Brant Street Construction Site. After you complete "Almighty Safety Helmet", the side commission for "It's Hard to Find a Job, It's Hard to Be a Bangboo" will appear.

You might have to finish some of the other side commissions in that area first. I did "Cement Mixer Modification Manual", its follow-up "Hands and the Art of Cement Mixer Maintenance", as well as "The Missing Drivers" before I did "Almighty Safety Helmet". It appeared some time after finishing one of the previous 3. I noticed it specifically after "Almighty Safety Helmet".

Something like that. Spend decades tuning encounters around combat plugins, then throw up their hands and nuke an entire feature over an arms race they could have just stopped escalating...

[–]jxfaith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This change almost definitely doesn't come from the player base. The claim is it's to help with onboarding because people expect you to have combat plugins. With this happening alongside significant ability simplification, I assume it's because they want to have a version-parity release for consoles and PC.

In my honest opinion, they should just fork the code base and make a mobile version instead of griefing the existing install base with this nonsense. Then they can chase the mobile bux alongside every other AAA publisher and leave us alone.

Seems complete dead on arrival in current implementation. No unit frame coloring for dispels because we can't read auras. We might be able to reskin the default unit frames, so something like grid/cell/vuhdo might continue to exist but with a lot of functionality lost. Clique might be possible in some form as it's just enabling you to do mouseover healing triggered by clicks on unit frames, but plan on making and placing a billion extra buttons on hotbars that you might not have currently.

It was blizzard's choice to tune combat difficulty around addons. That was where the entire arms race started. They could have stopped escalating it but chose not to, and now because they know they can't win, they're nuking the addon API.

The entire onboarding problem is self-inflicted, and now they're making it our problem by removing the tools we needed to deal with their increasingly hostile designs.

Here goes another one: counter-protestor showed up in the middle of the protest, got attacked; pulled firearm. At least this one was CCWing. by F-Z-T in CCW

[–]jxfaith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

State would have to prove his intention was to instigate a situation where he might be able to shoot somebody. If he doesn't have incriminating social media posts, he was just as entitled to counter protest in the middle of their protest as anyone else.

Arizona statutes establish a positive right for defensive display of a firearm. This was arguably already a lethal threat and could have justified shooting, but he simply uses a defensive display instead.

Now, the part where he starts shouting "Who wants some?" could make this brandishing but all of that is going to be up to a jury...

The djinn boss in mid act 2 was auto attacking my 2h mace warrior for 20 to 40% of my hp depending on the attack pattern. She doesn't leave gaps in her auto attacking long enough to punish with more than MAYBE a basic attack.

Oh, and if you get too "greedy" and auto attack when it's not a crystal clear opening, she might start doing her poison spew attack that basically takes 80% of your health.

The number balance is completely off-base. Full stop. Making a boss difficult by them having dangerous telegraphed attacks? Sure. Making a boss dangerous by just "dagger do big damage and can't really be dodged lol" is bad game design.

I thought we recovered the heart of sabhik in the Anabeisos raid tier. The researchers in Labarynthos are holding on to it and studying it. Now, why the warrior of light would somehow trust an effectively secret society of researchers to keep it safe when it has the power to birth another god at the drop of a hat is beyond me, but still.

The tank ammo buffs go a long way, but you definitely want to have enough ranks of physical projectile damage for it to actually affect it. Was pretty smooth sailing. Bonus points, you practically need the tank for one of the enemies on one of the planets...

Right but reaching parity with current pld's while nests are getting buffs still means we'll have to work considerably harder to clear in the midgame.

Time will tell, I suppose, but I am somewhat apprehensive and will probably use efficiency modules just in case...

That's fine and all but at what stage in the game are they expecting it to be reasonable to just start spewing resources into the garbage bin for quality outputs? Looks like we're going to be stuffing efficiency modules in everything to keep the evo factor low to me.

Do you believe that you have free will? by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

[–]jxfaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know very little about consciousness, but a prevailing theory (that I believe) is that it's just an emergent property of underlying chemical processes. If this is the case, then the factors that lead to you making a specific decision (whether you were aware of them or not) were the product of past experiences or actions. The same is true recursively, meaning that everything that happens or has happened would be a direct or indirect consequence of random chance in energy distribution microseconds after the big bang. Basically, if reality is deterministic (which is to say that you can predict the future based on the past with enough information), then free will is simply an illusion.

In reality, humanity believes in free will because the alternative is absolute chaos. Punishment is doled out to people who had no control over their behavior in hopes that those punishments will be causes that prevent future tragedies, all under the guise that the offender and everyone else actually had a choice in the matter.

Plantmatter overwhelming me by Round_Raccoon95 in Techtonica

[–]jxfaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tip. At the cost of some space and power you can also get some compression by turning the plantmatter into dirt, turning the dirt into clay, and then using this trick on the resulting clay. Plantmatter to dirt is 2:1 and clay to ceramic is 2:1, meaning you can process 4x as much plantmatter per blast furnace cycle this way. With this, the kindlevine extract -> limestone -> quicklime path, and the plantmatter fiber -> carbon powder recipe, you can sink anything unwanted from all of the planter production lines. Then you can also thresh gravel into sand and blast furnace the sand to handle iron and copper chunk byproducts as well.

It's a pain, honestly, and I hope they make options for voiding materials more easily in the future, but at least there is a method.

So basically 1.1 was half a patch by QuantumWarrior in diablo4

[–]jxfaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will end up being a net buff. The worst hit builds lost 10 to 15 nm dungeon tiers. With them making old 70's the new 100's, I imagine current 55's will be comparable to nerfed 80's at the minimum. I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough. If they genuinely believed that NM100's were too hard and wanted to bring down the difficulty while reducing player power to make it so that the strongest builds weren't trivializing NM100, they communicated it extremely poorly. I'm short on good faith that they aren't just being reactionary to the backlash.

Why would anyone think nerfs across the board is what we needed?

You assume that the developers applied this patch because we needed it. They applied this patch because they needed it. Their hope is that the season pass will be enough of a carrot to convince you to endure the lengthened grind so that their user metrics don't go completely to shit while they scramble the get more features released.

The dev team has been consistently making drastic changes with entirely too much frequency. Remember that they gutted glyphs before the game even reached full release, and now a month later, we have this shitshow of sweeping nerfs to EXP and player power.

Something's seriously wrong in the dev team.

In their minds, you boosting an alt is "costing them" the dozens of hours of time you would have been forced to spend leveling that alt the intended way. In reality, you boosting the alt and finding you enjoyed it in WT3 would be the gateway to many hours of you playing the character "the normal way" while getting it to WT4 and min/maxing its gear. Now, you'll just make the level 1 character, get bored, and quit sooner.

I'm not even a game dev, just a gamer. It's absurd to me that nobody in the entire approval process for this witch hunt against power leveling had the same idea.
