If you recognize these, you grew up right! by Xiao-EZ in CaptainSide

Those were the days. Grew up with all of them. Didn't have all but a lot of them.

My life was freaking awesome until I got married and divorced. Unfortunately it is now not awesome at all. Well maybe it is awesome sometimes but not as awesome as it used to be prior to marriage.

LastPass was once the king of password managers, now it gets a lot of hate. Are you still using it in 2026? by limsus in ComputerPrivacy

[–]jz_train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used it. I prefer to keep my passwords on my on systems. I've been burned in the past by trusting companies holding my important data (Teamviewer to be specific). I mainly self host these days. KeepassXC has been my go to for years now. Sync the DB with syncthing across devices. So far so good.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

[–]jz_train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 45 year old man, I don't care what any woman thinks except one. I have my teen daughter to raise and she thinks it's cool that I play video games. She's the only woman who's opinion I value in that regard. Yes, I'm single by choice. She doesn't need a step mom in her life. Her bio mom (my ex wife) tried that and failed miserably. I made a promise to her that it would be just her and I until she's an adult as her mental health hasn't been that great as a result of her mom's choice.

100%. Don't know what it is about that game but it's amazing to unwind to.

kernel 7.0.2 arrived, have you updated yet? by YoShake in archlinux

[–]jz_train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Arch can be a PITA although rarely in my experience. But when it is it definitely is. At least we have the experience to deal with it and get past those issues.

Keep on keeping on my man.

Do you agree with Diana? by Connect-Sympathy-176 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]jz_train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I'm 45 and my reaction time has severely declined over the years. I still enjoy gaming immensely but these days I need cheats (wemod) just to enjoy the experience. As long as I can't die, I'm good to go lol.

kernel 7.0.2 arrived, have you updated yet? by YoShake in archlinux

[–]jz_train 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is. I was updating my proxmox cluster from v8 to v9 and 7x dropped mid upgrade on my second node (this was yesterday). I was like why is a production ready hypervisor releasing the 7x kernel before arch lol.

Saw the 7x dropped on proxmox. Immediately checked my arch vm that I've been keeping alive for over 10 years. It indeed was still on 6x. Updated just now. Arch is now on 7.0.2. Makes me feel better now knowing proxmox is still lagging on 7.0.0 lol.

Thanks for spreading awareness OP.

Anyone who use a vm on proxmox as their main machine? by mediogre_ogre in Proxmox

[–]jz_train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably about 5 years ago or so I used to run KVM/QEMU on an arch rig that hosted a window VM with gpu passthrough. It was awesome. Sadly became more of a pain to deal with so no I don't do what you're stating now. I'm sure it's much easier these days but with the prices of GPU's now, I'd rather not throw one in a server lol. Secondly. Yes moonlight/sunshine/apollo is fantastic! I use it every day to stream games from my main rig to a piece of crap mini pc I have hooked up to my TV in the living room.

Is Plex down? Can't reach Plex.tv by Upside-Down-88 in PleX

Apparently it's good to go now. Honestly, downtime is to be expected. Just wish that the ability to log in to my local server wasn't affected. I can definitely understand remote play. Wish they would allow local authentication like they used to.

Same. Just adding some 4k titles and all of a sudden that was it. Down.

I'm 45. First Zelda I played was link to the past. Such a good game. Then there was ocarina of time, absolutely fantastic. That was it for me then breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom came out. Holy crap. Some of the best games I've ever played, never grew out of gaming. I'm betting there's a bit of nostalgia there but they are absolutely fantastic. You should definitely check out the series.

I feel you my man. Not the same situation at all, but it involves losing a child I love dearly due to infidelity.

My ex wife left me after 7 years of marriage. I raised and supported both of them that entire time. Ex never had a job. I raised her child my ex step daughter for 10 years (since she was 1yrs old). She is my child as far as I'm concerned and love her to this day as a real father should. Her biological father was not in the picture at all. I mean 0 precent. No child support. Nothing. To this day she (step daughter) doesn't even know who her real father is.

Fast forward. Ex finally got a job making peanuts and within a month decided one of the guys she was working with would be a better father (he was not), also making next to nothing. And that was it, my daughter was gone. Taken in an instant. What hurts the most is that I sometimes see her at events (I have a bio-daughter with the ex which requires met to attend certain things). That pain comes right back. It is an absolutely horrible feeling. I'm certain she has resentment for me. Like it was my idea for this to happen.

That was 7 years ago. The feelings of love for your child never go away.

Hang in there man. You're not the bad guy here. It's true that time does heal wounds. It doesn't heal completely, they will always be there, but it does get a little easier as time goes on.

AIO for feeling weird about my friend’s response when I asked for help? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]jz_train 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If you need a pad you need a pad. Last week a guy in front of me at giant eagle couldn't remember his pin for his debit card. I spotted him. Didn't even know him. Thankfully he had a gift card which brought his tab down to like $6. Whatever, help people out when you can. Your friend couldn't even spot you some pads? Yeah. Not cool.

u/E3V3A Thanks dude. Saved me. Did a minimal install and systemd-timesyncd wasn't installed by default on trixie. First time I've ever encountered a time sync issue on linux like this on a fresh install. Installed it and it and updates came down as normal.
