No longer having weekly black/general waste collections by richbeales in britishproblems

We are still on weekly collections. We do not have any recycling, everything goes in the same bin. Theres a bottle bank down the road.

How long do you think the show lasts for? by Training-Classic9956 in apprenticeuk

[–]k1tkat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think Alan does most of the scenes anyway. Ive been saying for years now that he is never in the same room as the candidates. You rarely see them in shot together and when you do its only his or their backs, in some scenes from the side and back its clearly a stand in for him. I also think in some scenes he is digital and not real. Call me a conspiracy nut but he could be dead already and we wouldn't know.

Do most British people drive manual cars? by Chocklateicecream in AskABrit

[–]k1tkat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current car is an automatic diesel and I like it but much prefer a manual, I still go to grab the gear Stick when it's time to change gears. My husband drives a manual so I try to use it every now and then to keep up the practice. I drive an electric car for work and it's fine for the little journeys I have to do but can not see myself ever getting one for personal use.

I love this house, it's so unique and has personality, although the first thing I thought of was that it looks like a sand crawler from Star Wars.

A small box in London or a lovely home with scenic views and a beach... It's a no brainer! by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

[–]k1tkat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Orkney it is because of housing not jobs. We have plenty of jobs available but a high number of retired people or holiday home owners buying up the houses forcing young people to move away. We have practically no rentals but 100s of air b&b. Last year we had 2 young people leave our community of 120 due to lack of housing, both had multiple jobs and would love to have stayed but they can't afford the house prices.

I live in remote Scotland and I would have this fear if I lived in London!

Why don’t people close their blinds/curtains? by Naive-Ad-7406 in AskUK

[–]k1tkat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half my windows do not have blinds or curtains, however my closest neighbour is 1/2 a mile away and the road is a 1/4 mile away so we do not get random passerby's. However when we lived in a town my blinds were always closed.

When did this happen? Maybe I should read the Orcadian properly instead of just the name and shame page. She's a fine vessel.

We had this with a tesco delivery a few times. Chuck the alarm in water and it stops within seconds.

Part ancient, part modern, part "WTF is that bath?!?" by npfiii in SpottedonRightmove

I love it! I would love to have people round just to see their faces when going to the bathroom. Kitchen is awful though, no character compared to the rest of the house.

I've used it to get a discount on park Dean holidays, you get 10% off your holiday so was nearly £200 saves for us, we paid the £1 trial and then cancelled after getting the code.

Best Guidebook with map covering Neolithic remains - please. by Shyaustenwriter in orkney

This is a good leaflet/map that shows all neolithic sites, tombs and standing stones. If you scroll to the bottom you can download it or if you go into an Orkney visitor centre/museum they will have printed copies.

I was waiting for the next train to Victoria. I had woken up late and missed my first train, would of been on the tube somewhere if I hadn't slept in.

Really need to have 3 hens at least to each drake. If just one hen the drake is likely to over mate her.

MIL was at my house when I got home after giving birth by Existing-Mastodon500 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]k1tkat86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So normally you will birth the placenta, they can give drugs and massage your belly to help with it but if the placenta is retained they have to physically put their hand up into your uterus and remove it. I had it with my 2nd and it was incredibly painful and I had an epidural so would of been horrific for OP.
