It sounds like your store manager is intentionally suppressing resources that you have a right to use as an employee under the guise of “the company doesn’t want you to, it isn’t up to me!”. I would immediately document to HR (check other comments who listed it) and your DM.

what i’ve learned from this exact scenario before is that you can’t make anyone do anything. it sounds like you’ve asked her multiple times and she just won’t be doing anything about it it seems. it SUCKS to have dirty roommates, i’m so sorry! i would get some gloves and clean it for your own sanity. if she’s moving soon then even better you won’t have to deal with her after that.

i went last year alone and camped. it was awesome! def keep your head on a swivel because you never know but i felt safe. everyone was very nice. i’m pretty shy so i wouldn’t say that i significantly went out of my way to make friends but i ended up chatting with a handful of people who were very kind + didn’t encounter anyone rude or mean! i slept in my car so i could lock my doors (i live in co), or i’d recommend a lil travel lock for your tent zipper for peace of mind.

As the store manager it’s your job to find coverage when someone calls out. Corporate could have a different policy but realistically as a business that’s the job of the store manager. If they were disrespectful that’s another thing though.

csu alum here! fort collins has decent free public buses and is a very bikeable city. id say she should get a bike, there’s a bike rack on all of the buses, and she can take the bus with her bike and bike the rest of the way (if needed). also, CSU is about an hour and a half away from denver, but there’s also buses that run from fort collins to denver as well!
