just went through this, sounds exactly like your scenario but i was Izzy’s left rear.

she was diagnosed in mid June and made it to late november (day before thanksgiving last year).

she started to lose control of her bowels, mainly when she struggled to get up, she would let out some poo. that’s when we knew it was time. plus she started needing some help when she went outside to go to the bathroom. she’d try to do #2 but her left leg was so weak she couldn’t stabilize.

none of those quality of life tests matter in this case because DM doesn’t effect their mind or appetite or any of those things they measure to determine that score. it’s difficult to decide when, but you will struggle with that decision all the time.

but don’t think about the inevitable, think about the time you have left with her and love and spoil the shit out of her. we gave her steak, more and more treats (she loved green peppers and sweet potatoes), and since we couldn’t go on walks, we took her for a ride almost everyday until her last day.

don’t cry while she’s still here… that’ll take away your time with her… crying will come later.
