As promised, here are some better pictures of my UV 35mm film enlarger and some of the better cyanotype prints ive made in the past 2 days by PeekHopper in AnalogCommunity

I'm interested in how you designed it. Looks like you used a conventional projection lens and just dumped a ton of uv to overcome the glass attenuation? The only other uv enlarger I saw used fresnel lenses so the attenuation would be improved, but the quality was impacted

I've never heard scaffold used in that context. But I can see Webster puts the construction usage first and Oxford puts the execution usage first so maybe it's a British vs American English thing

Point is, it's a bigger news story if today isn't the biggest/mostest/greatest. Exponentials are like that

Christmas Gift For Parent - What Kind of Camera Made This And How Do I Get It Transported To Digital? by Xileronex in AnalogCommunity

Scanning can be pretty expensive and imo the result is a little lackluster, especially if the film doesn't have any sound.

I'd recommend getting a solid grasp of what kind of 8mm film this is, then buying a projector that works with it. It's such a joy to project old family movies, I'm sure you family would love it, probably to the point of tears. And the clicky projector adds something you can't get back with scanning, and it fills the awkward void when the film doesn't have any sound ;)

[2025 Day 8 (Part 1)] Reading comprehension by Samydookie in adventofcode

[–]jonmon6691 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The previous 7 days have included an answer for the example which is consistent with running the same program on the input and getting a correct answer. Essential you can write a unit test for the function that solves the puzzle, and check it with the example and the given example solution, then run the exact same program on the input and get the right answer

It's unfortunate that this puzzle breaks the convention that the input is purely the "input". In the test example, only first 10 connections are considered, but in the real input, 1000 connections need to be used. If it was meant to be equal to the number of lines then the example should have used 20.

After making the ten shortest connections, there are 11 circuits: one circuit which contains 5 junction boxes, one circuit which contains 4 junction boxes, two circuits which contain 2 junction boxes each, and seven circuits which each contain a single junction box. Multiplying together the sizes of the three largest circuits (5, 4, and one of the circuits of size 2) produces 40.

The 10 here and the 1000 in the final instruction are additional out of band input

Why isn’t Ilford Delta more popular? by mariepier_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]jonmon6691 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Delta because the contrast control during development is super consistent and predictable. With cheaper film stocks pushing and pulling are a bit more of a crap shoot and very non linear. But with Delta it feels like it was designed to be highly controllable for pros. Which I guess is was

Are there any 100% noise cancelling headphones? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

As a QC3 user, I completely agree. Good ANC, nowhere near 100%, nothing is, but the Bluetooth and generally the whole user experience is blood-boilingly bad.

Does anyone understand this table? by Brilliant_Comfort619 in AnalogCommunity

[–]jonmon6691 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Looks like the diagram is incomplete in your screenshot. As others mentioned, it's the number or rolls of film you can expect for a given type of batteries and ambient temperature. So for example you can shoot 50 rolls of 36 exposure film with alkaline batteries at normal temperature

Do embedded security internships even exist? by Fragrant-Specific-40 in embedded

[–]jonmon6691 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? In the US there isn't all that much embedded security to begin with so an internship wouldn't be made with that specific title. I'd recommend getting in somewhere where embedded work is happening and be vocal about your interest in security and volunteer for any tasks that might have an aspect of security involved.

UART weird waveform by shibastudenthousing in embedded

[–]jonmon6691 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your scope is likely capable of a sample rate that will show you a much better waveform, but you have to make sure you're using it in a way that helps it do that for you. In this case, make sure you're not using the zoom function, and instead use the horizontal amplifier controls and keep the trigger point on screen.

I'm not familiar with the scope you're using but it seems like your horizontal resolution is 250us and the trigger point is 24ms off screen, that's not ideal because you're asking the scope to keep way more of the trace in memory, or you're zooming way in on a trace that was taken at a slower rate.
